Can someone tell me how Bush allowed such a liberal death penalty in Texas, but is against abortion. Now, please don't come after me by saying abortion is an innocent life, and the death penalty is for cold criminals.
I'd just like some reasonable answers as to how Bush can think it's okay to put someone to death but refuse abortion. Afterall .. who are we (in the general sense) to say someone did something so wrong they should die for it??
I'm really confused on this.

I have seen the irony in that too. If you asked him, he would probably say because a fetus is an innocent being, and the criminals are evil souls or some crap like that. I am against the death penalty.

Re: Serious Explanation Wanted
I am against the death penalty becasue it is proven that innocent people have been put to death..but then again I always say that I would kill anyone whohurts my child..so maybe my views will change if I am faced with the loss of a loved one.
But the death penalty was around long before Bush anyways though..and I do think it is somewhat understandable how people can view the two differently..even if you dont agree with either issue.

I think the problem is the age old controversy of when does one think a fetus = human being

I think it's crueler to sentence a criminal to life in prison with no chance for parole than the death penalty. Let them life their live in prison and suffer for it. Being put to death is a quick end to their suffering.

I agree...in fact i go a step further...TORTURE the SOB. I think death for a criminal is more satisfying to a family of the victims... I personally would want someone who killed my family member put to death...In my mind...this person will have wiped off the face of the earth...with is a more pleasurable thought in the long run (to me that is). The idea that a killer is somewhere, eating, breathing, living...bothers me.

i agree, unfortunately laws are 'not enforced' in this country so there is 'no such thing'...

I cannot agree more!! If someone I love was killed, I would want that ******* to die a painful death.,....
Like in the old days....hang him and let us stone him to death....
Sorry if I come off as insensitive, but you can bet your butt if I lost someone I love to the hands of a cold hard killer, I would want them tortured to death!

Yeah, but I don't think it's any better to have the murderer killed. I would just want to know that he's never going to walk free and will rot in prison his whole life and is being forced to be someone's b*tch hopefully.

Re: Serious Explanation Wanted
prison+my tax dollars supporting his/her butt while I have to struggle each and everyday to let hem have lobster and steak..not to mention cable..ughhhh makes me sick to think about seeing them on A&E exercsing and eating better food than hardworking honest people..
Death=he/she doesnt have a chance of parole and I feel as if my loved ones death was not in vain. Or having the opportunity to esacpe. But it wouldnt hurt if he was someone's ***** first though.

Wow! You guys are harsh! What right do we have to kill anyone? From what you guys say the death penalty seems too humane.

true...and if it is soooo worse to be in jail for the rest of your life...why do most of those sentenced to death make every attempt to avoid or get out of it?

Re: Serious Explanation Wanted
The beginning of this thread was about abortion and the death penalty's correlation. In my opinion with proven innocents having been murdered on death row, why is it ok for people to think murder is right in one occasion and wrong in another.
After all I believe the bible says Thou shalt not kill
It doesn't say Thou shalt not kill...unless someone f**k's with you.

Well i dont think they look at it as killing? Since some people do not consider certain parts of gestation, where the fetus is NOT considered to be a human being...you cannot kill it. You can merely put an end to the possibility of a human being!

This is exactly my issue. If you value life above all else then you should not believe in either the death penalty or abortion?
