Excluding the price of your reception, how much are you expecting to spend. I'll go first..

Gown - $1,000
BM Dresses - $600 - Yes, I'm paying for them
Florist - $2,500 (approx)
DJ - $1,300
Officiant - $300-$500 range

Invites - $200 - 300 range

Yeek, so many other things I haven't listed yet,

Video/Photo - $4,000 (combined)

Bridesmaids Hair: $400 for 6 girls


edited to add: my budget was a total number, so I just kept trying to keep everything as low as possible, and once I hit that number, I started MAKING things so I wouldn't spend more money...I made the programs, I made the menu cards, I made the rehearsal dinner invites...

question:
this may sound silly
but the girls that paid for the bm dresses and hair and stuff like that . that was you're gift to them right? or did you also give them something else

Gift? Sure, I thought it was, but none of the girls thought it was very 'gifty'

I bought the 1 gown because I was in my cousin's wedding when I was 15, so she covered my costs. So, I returned the favor when I got married.

I covered everyone's hair because I wanted them to wear it up, and I didnt' want any complaints, so I covered the costs. I got complaints anyway...

In addition, I gave them all 14K white gold earring with genuine garnets. Again, these weren't considered gifts because they were 'required to wear them at the wedding'

I gave my Matron of Honor a pendant from Movado. I gave my Maid of honor a small diamond pendant.

those 2 and one other BM got $25 gift cards to Victoria's because they helped me assemble my programs at the last minute, in the middle of the night.

I also gave out red satiny handags (not to be used at the wedding, just as a little token of my appreciation) as well as embroidered sach's with their initial and scented beads inside. And, I gave them all a pair of slippers with embroidered and beaded martini glasses.

My niece (flower girl) got a gold and diamond heart pendant and a small gift basket from Bath and Body Works. And, I paid to get her hair AND makeup done because SHE is the ultimate DIVA!

Oh mi gosh Sue, you're more than generous! I'm getting gifts for my BM's too but we're not paying for their hair and make-up. I hope they appreciate the gowns.

As sad as it is, the general consensus seems to be that if it's your wedding than you should pay for everything...I guess that's the current trend...
