If it was me, I would not considering changing the date...I am actually getting married on my FG's 3rd birthday...Your friend is not even engaged yet, so it is not your fault that you picked that date....You can not account for everyone's date signifigance when choosing a wedding date....

No way should you feel bad or even consider changing your date. It's not like you're getting married the same day she is! Maybe when she is finally engaged she will realize all that goes into planning a wedding and not be so selfish. JMO

I personally wouldn't feel bad for planning the date you had. Would your friend still have the same emotion if she and her bf break up? I personally think a WEDDING ANNIVERSARY is more important than a first date anniversary. But I may be 'cold' in my thinking.

I think your friend is being a little possessive of a date that really doesn't belong to her. Don't feel bad. You did nothing wrong.

She doesn't own the date and like you said, they aren't even engaged....for all anyone knows they can break up anytime and then what?

I think that was totally rude for her even telling you that about your wedding date.
Be happy and enjoy your planning...

You shouldn't feel bad at all, if years down the line she decides to use the same date, I doubt most people would remeber that it's the same day you had your wedding. I really don't see the big deal...

Ummm, that is crazy. My cousin got married on my birthday.My thoughts... My birthday, November 12 is a day on the calender also, and does not belong to me.
That date will mean nothing to her after she gets engaged and sets the date. Nothing. I can't even remember when my first date with my husband was. You should NOT feel bad!

DO NOT Feel bad at all...first of all that was wrong and inappropriate of her to say ecspesially since she is NOT engaged. If she decides to ever use it???? what is that , you should not reaarange your planned wedding so your friend who is not engaged someday can use it , if that is what she decides... people

Sounds crazy to me. Nice friend - hopefully she will come to her senses and realize that she's being irrational. Just let her know you really are sorry she feels that way, and try not to worry about it.

This actually made me laugh out loud. It's ridiculous and, no offense, your friend is out of her mind! Every date is an anniversary of something for somebody! Besides, she's not even engaged and I'd feel this way even if that was her wedding date! I'd stick with that date and not even give it another second's thought!

I agree with what everyone said here - don't change it.

Plus, what are the chances that if she does marry him that year would even have that date on a weekend? And I've never heard of anyone getting married on their dating anniversary - if it worked out that way, fine but I've never heard of anyone claiming the date!

Im sorry hon, that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Since when can people place dibs on dates. You even said they havent even been talking about marriage. I really wouldnt sweat it. By the way, welcome to they boards and congrats on your engagement!!!
