I'm sick of people making up dumb reasons why they cant come to my wedding. I dont know about other people, but i always WANT to go to weddings and try to make my schedule fit around it. Do they not want the expense of it?? I cant figure it out!! Maybe they just dont like me but at least make up a normal reason why you cant come. Dont tell me that u have to drive your kid to baseball practice that night!!!! Who knows that 2 months in advance??!!! Its so annoying! Ok vent over. thanks for listening.

I hate weddings, lol. If I get invited to a wedding and the bride or grrom isn't family or a great friend I see regularly I do not go. We exist............
I am not trying to be facetious either. I think events, especially weddings, mean something different to everyone.

My guess would be expense; Perhaps people give excuses because they're too embarrassed to admit they don't have $ for a gift. Debi had 5 BM drop out because of the wedding expense, and I've heard people complain because of the wedding being so far away. Sorry, hon!! It will be interesting to see what happens with RSVP's for Debi and Fred's wedding. Mary MOB

I guess it is okay to decline, but to come out with lame excuses I think is where it becomes embarrassing. I had a cousin say she couldn't go to my sister's wedding b/c she had no babysitter (the night before - last minute) .....and another very close cousin declined to my sister's wedding through the rsvp b/c she was still breastfeeding her daughter......didn't even call and have a heart to heart as to why she couldn't go.

I agree. I mean I don't want to be invited just to be invited. If this was a family member or a good friend then that is a really lame excuse. Then again, for my eparty my cousin's couldn't make it because one of their daughter's had a soccer tournament OOT that weekend. Some of that stuff is known ahead of time.

exactly, obviously some people have other things already planned.....I don't get upset over these things......as long as the very important people are there - not to say that ALL my guests are not important, but if coworkers some friends can't come...it is okay.

I can already relate and my wedding is still 18 months away!
My FFIL lives in Greece and when FH told him we were engaged he says he didn't know if he can make it, BEFORE WE TOLD HIM THE DATE!!!
When FH told him how long he has until the date he said oh ok then I can probably come! People are so weird.

'09'er Crashing...
I don't get it. I too love attending weddings. Sh*t, I'd be a wedding crasher if I could! Weddings are a blast. There is nothing like 2 people who are in love and getting married. I am always honored to be a part of their day.
I am sorry this is happening to you. I have a year before my wedding rolls around and I hope this doesn't happen. I'd be devestated! But listen, don't sweat it. You are going to have many excited people there who are going to share your day with you! Screw the people that don't want to be there!
