Sick Of These Photographers!!

Sick Of These Photographers!!

OK..sorry to rant here, but I'm getting tired of this... All of the photographers that we've been to are not really working with us. We DO have a BUDGET that we're trying to work in and I don't think they undertand! The pictures they have been showing us are beautiful, but they are not listening to me when I tell them what I want with my budget. We tell them that we do NOT need parent albums b/c of the extra cost and they tell us that we can instead use the cost of those books towards our album....I DO NOT NEED MORE PICTURES!! I WANT YOU TO TAKE $$ OFF THE PACKAGE!! My bridesmaid is a photographer (still in college) and told us that after the wedding she will blow up some picks for us and even do that black/white photos with just my bouquet in color, etc, so I do NOT need more picks!! They then tell me that the package is as low as they can go. And THEN 'suggest' that we go with the most EXPENSIVE package just incase we want more pics after the wedding is shot! GIVE ME A BREAK!
We have been quoted about $2,000 for a B/G album 2 folios and 50 TYs and 1 -11x12, 2 -5x7s for about $2,000. But I also don't want the folios and no TYs. I just want to have my own TYs(just a card, no photo). I KNOW that most of my friends/extended family will NOT hold onto those pictures, and they will get thrown away in the end.
SO, does ANYONE know a photographer that will do what I want and take out all the crap I don't need AND lower the price?!?!? We were HOPING for a package about $1000-1,200. We've spoken to ADA, Marco, VIP & Renessance (sp?). I think that's it. The wedding is in Suffolk, at East Wind Country Gardens. 4/18/04.
Sorry for the rant!

I am not sure which photographers would work with you.Why don't you post what you want in the vendor forum & hopefully you will get lots of photographers who can work a package you are looking for.I'm sure you will find someone.

I second the suggestion of posting on the vendor board, but in all honesty I think you're being unrealistic about your budget for photography.

Perhaps see if you can manage to cut out some other expenses in your budget. Another thing to negotiate for is possibly having the photographer there only for bridal party pictures and the ceremony, and perhaps only one hour of the reception... By cutting their time to 4 hrs instead of 8 hrs, you're reducing the # of pictures and their time with you.

But in all honesty, I think $2000 would be a much more reasonable budget for photographer, who'll be with you for the whole day.

Definitely call Cassarino. They really worked the packages over for us.

I would check with Patken. They made a package for us that was quite high and FI and I told them what we didnt want, removed pictures from albums and we got him to our budget.

Patken is really good and will take out whatever you want taken out and will reduce the price.

FM me if you want more details

Re: Sick Of These Photographers!!

try marco photography in holbrook. if you get a package and you do not some of the pics you get $$ off or credit towards somehting else. He really works with you.

also remember you get what you pay for. I was one of the brides that booked video maker, he took off with our wedding video and we had to have him arrested to get it back. we only paid $900 for the video, basically we got what we paid for.

I second Patken. They really try to stay within you budget. We also got a high quote at first and told them that we couldn't afford it, so they worked with us.

Good Luck

I'm using Cassarino and remember them having several packages. Also, Lavendar on Broadway in North Massapequa. Pictures were pretty and they have so many different packages, that honestly I think it's what you're looking for.

Re: Sick Of These Photographers!!

Thanks for all the suggestions gals.

As far as the rest of our budget, we've gone as low as we can go for other things. I was going to have centerpeices made from the florest, (it came to $720 for them), but now there is NO way I'm paying that much for flowers (I know, some of you are thinking $720?! Wow, that's great!, but I'm more of a 'have more money for house stuff later' kinda gal, and $720 can go for a lot of things that I need for our place). So I think we're gonna do something simple and cheap for the cneterpeices. And we're having a DJ (FI did some web work for them so they are cutting the price), and we're only having 90 people for the reception. Our parents are helping (well, atleast MINE are...but that's another story!).

Like I said b4, we went to Marco and they did that 'add it to other things' deal, when I DON'T want that. Just take the $$ off the package.
I'm going to check out the other places you suggested though. Thanks a lot!

Re: Sick Of These Photographers!!

What is your total budget? Are you planning to use either limos or have favors. Those are a few things that can be cut out without taking away from the whole wedding picture. Its good that you're trying to save on flowers.

I have heard also of 'Kim's Photographer' as the lower end photo option. They are from NJ but I am pretty sure they'll travel.

Here is their website:
www.kimsphotographers.com
They total about 300-350 proofs

Package one $1,100:
6 Hour Coverage
1 Complete Set of Proofs
20 page 8x10 Bridal Album

Package two $1,300:
$1,300
Full Day Coverage (Bride's House to Reception)
1 Complete Set of Proofs
20 page 8x10 Bridal Album

Re: Sick Of These Photographers!!

Does it help if you do both the video and pictures with them? Will they cut you a better deal??

Olgaki:

The ones that we spoke to...no..not really. But maybe that's just the ones we spoke to. They always say that their prices are 'are low as they can go'.

Good luck!

I know what you are saying- these photographers try to talk you into things that are just not feasable-my budget is 1000.00 and im going to keep on looking until i find someone that will give me what i want-I have heard mixed reviews about jam wedding center in Lynbrook www.jamweddings.com and they have beautiful pictures and when i went in there they had a picture of a friend of mine- i spoke to him and he told me that they were outstanding- theyre prices start at 789.00 for 150 - 200 proofs- and they go up from there- and also dreamweaverscatering.com have good prices- i just havent heard any feedback and i have yet to check with the bbb for either one- but just keep looking and i understand about the budget- i have cut down as much as i can to- Good Luck

You might want to try Leli Photography. I met with Gary a while ago and he was super nice and I liked his pictures. I forget what his prices were but I remember thinking they were lower than the otehrs I met with. I see they a vendor on this site now.
