Silly ques about throwing rice or confetti...............

Original post by AS

If you are throwing rice or confetti are you afraid it will get stuck in your hair and you wont be able to get it out. I have seen this many times. I dont want to attend my reception with rice in my hair

Can you still even throw rice?? i thought churches were like banning it or something??

Im throwing rose petals

alot of churches actually ban rose petals, mostly inside though

Yea that I know too, my church doesnt allow them to be thrown inside, but they said outside was fine. In our lil handbook of do's and donts..there's more dont's than do's lol

Our church too. However if the limo company won't then we are going to slip the alter boy extra money to clean up inside (seriously how many petals can a three year drop on the ground).

As for the outside -- it is going to be fall and rose petals will blend in with the leaves and blow away!

I never really thought of bubbles, are they nice?? I was at target the other day and in their wedd section they have a box of bubbles decorated already for cheap, maybe I will go back

Bubbles look great. You can get them anywhere. Oriental trading has them for really cheap.

I will check that site right now. Thanks!!!

BUBBLE WARNING -- I know A LOT of people do this but be careful that the bubbles don't pop/break or spill on your dress -- they STAIN!!!!!!!!! Especially on Silk/Satin.

YIKESSSSSSSSSSSSSS , that is the last thing I want is to get my dress stained. Ok that is out of the ques. Thanks for the info!!!!

Yeah some churches do ban rice. Mine doesnt I dont think . I will just do rose petals or a bigger confetti this way they wont get stuck.

I dont like rose petals bec they turn brown in the heat, I will feel embarassed if they are fake. My friend had rose petals that turned brown, it was gross

I don't think you're supposed to throw rice anymore though because it's harmful to birds if they eat it. I think it's like they swallow it and it engorges their stomachs...something like that. That's why people switched to birdseed as an alternative to rice.

I would do bubbles but it's hard to clap and cheer and blow bubbles at the same time... yess, I am ASSuming our guests will clap and cheer for us!

In some GO churches you are not allowed to clap or cheer , people have to wait to go outside to do that

yeah, that's what I mean jelly bean....

I'm getting married in a Catholic church and people usually throw things when the B&G come down the church steps outside... so that's when the peeps would (hopefully) clap and cheer...

Aw, dont be afraid of the rose petals, really. If its the florist that is supplying them, they will bring them fresh straight from their fridge to your church. it takes several hours before they even look like they will turn color. Plus, i think the petals are so pretty and elegant and wont stick in your hair as much

you girls always give me a lot to think about...

i'm not sure what our church rules are.

The petals and bubbles look great in pictures though!

I think the bubbles look great in pics. This was my MOH's wedding from last summer. (I'm the girl behind her...i was her moh)

Uggh...I keep trying to resize the pics, but they are still too big!

Re: Silly ques about throwing rice or confetti...............

At my brother's wedding, there was A LOT of rice thrown outside the church (St Paul's in hempstead), and yes there was a lot of rice in my sister-in-law's hair, but it didn't show at all, nor did it bother her.

She only realized there was a lot of rice in her hair once they got home after the reception, and rice started spilling out of everything, hair, dress, bodice. Luckily, a very forward-thinking sister-in-law (ME!) bought them a very good vaccuum cleaner for the bridal shower, so it was cleaned up quickly.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rice getting in your hair...that's the last thing you'll probably notice.

Also, bubbles are cute, unless the wind is blowing in a direction opposite of how you exit the church, in which case, not many bubbles make it into photo (happened at a friend's wedding this past March).

Plus, kids running around with open bottles of soap water is asking for trouble IMHO.
