Really wanted casual, at someone's house, but we had no one with enough room to host it.So this is costing us another $1100.

I vote blue collar - something comfy.
I am not even having a rd. I don't think I need one being that we have no bridal party.

We were going to do blue collar, then Al's brother offered to pay for it (he's the best man) and suggested we have it at a restaurant. So we are
It's not exactly silver spoon, it's a little family Italian restaurant with fireplace - very cozy.

Blue Collar - At my parent's house in Queens. We are sticking with Trinidad tradition and we are cooking the food and desserts ourselves. We are hiring a tassa player for music and will be playing indian and caribbean songs all night.

Isn't it supposed to be hosted by the parents of the groom? We were planning on a restaurant, but not a super fancy one. If they don't pay, I'm thinking that ball pit at McDonalds...

I don't know what is 'supposed' to happen, but we are paying for our entire wedding ourselves. anyway, I wouldn't expect anyone to do more for me than what I would do for myself. neither of our parents have the means for this stuff.
if I hadn't already watched 'Supersize Me', Mickey D's would be at the top of my list! LOL

Sorry- there are so many sensitive words... I meant, like- traditionally, if all the other aspects of wedding payment are traditional. How, like- in a perfect world, where your parents pay for the wedding, etc. Isn't the RD something on the grooms parents side of things? Just curious, because they haven't offered to pay for anything yet. Edited to say, that the 'perfect world' comment was not to imply that any other wedding payment plan is any less than perfect, but just not traditional. The word perfect is to reflect my impression of 'lucky', or 'fortunate'. I really never mean to offend anyone!

We're doing ours at a restaurant but it's going to be casual. FILs are paying but I would have been happy without one.

We're also having ours at a restaurant b/c the FILs are paying for it. We're doing it at a casual restaurant in Forest Hills (Family Restaurant)- just having wine on the tables. Otherwise, I don't think we could have afforded to have one.

you might want to have fh approach them...it's an expense you're going to want to budget for if they can't pay.
and I didn't mean for you to think I was offended or anything. unfort. I sometimes come off like that when I type. Good luck.
