Silver spoon or blue collar RD?

Original post by JessicaM.

which direction are you going in for your rehearsal dinner? the prices are making me ill honestly. I have about 25 people, minimum- it's not looking good on the wallet! LOL

Oh thank goodness!
Yeah, I have been asking him to approach them for months. I think he feels uncomfortable talking about money, but we are also hoping that they will buy our plane tickets for the HM as a wedding gift, but he hasn't asked about that yet either!

It's funny that he is uncomfortable about it, yet FMIL had me in the center of the whole familiy, asking 'How are your parents affording this, are they rich?' That was awkward.

We're having ours at JM's steakhouse in Westbury. We've invited the spouses and significant others of all of our participants which ends up at about 35 people. Even though we're doing buffet, we're up to $1600. I'd definately say Silver Spoon

We are doing casual - if we can afford it we will do a restaurant near our hall. If not, it will be at our house (assuming we close by then! If not we are screwed!)

We're doing it at my parent's house for a couple of reasons:

- 55 people at the RD = way too expensive to have it out
- We want a yankee/red sox themed RD, so we are doing it backyard BBQ style!

We're still debating on this one. Our finances are really being stretched to the max at this point.

Somewhere in the middle...the restaurant my FMIL picked is really nice, but not outrageously expensive...

more on the silver spoon side but I don't really care where it is...leaving that up to FILs so whatever they want is fine iwth me....

I guess silver spoon. We are having it at Desmonds in the East Wind. Man, that place has everything we need. I LOVE IT!

Not going the silver spoon route. Since our wedding is in the spring we are having it in the backyard. We will have about 25 people. I might hire a DJ for a couple of hours as well. Its going to be fun.

Blue collar all the way - Pizza Party or Wendy's at my mom's the night before with just the girls

We're doing something in between. Not blue collar, but not silver spoon either.

We need to actually have a real rehersal to get timing down with FH & best man arriving by boat, and all the girls having to walk down brick stairs - I don't want anyone falling the day of the wedding. Then in all likelihood we will be headed to The View at Crab Meadow for buffet dinner - wine and soda included - liquor pay for your own.

It will be at a restaurant, but nothing fancy. Well, that is if FH ever calls anywhere. Otherwise we will be having nothing at all.

we're doing it at a steakhouse in Manhattan, so it's not really silver spoon or blue collar.

We have not decided yet, but since we are getting married in July we were thinking of doing a nice evening BBQ - I guess that's Blue Collar.

I know what you mean, we have about 30!. I would love to have it at my house, but we are having a bbq at my house the next day for all the brits that are coming - so having the rehearsal dinner here is way too much for my parents!
