Re: Slow cooker/Crock pot recipes

I need these too! I LOVE my slow cooker. But I want to be able to prepare everythig the night before, and then throw it in in the morning and leave. Im seeing a lot of recipes that require you to pre cook some stuff first, and I want recipes where you dont have to. So if you have some, please please please share!!!!

I ALWAYS make italian Sausage for subs in mine (just made it tonight)...LOL i just put a pack of Sweet Italian Sausage (like a 5 link pack). 1 small can of diced tomatoes, 1 Green Pepper (sliced up), 1 Medium onion (sliced into rings). 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper (you can adjust this), 1 teaspoon garlic (diced out of a jar). Throw it all in the Crock Pot. turn it on High for an hour to get it going. Turn it on Low let it cook 6-7 hours.

I buy these really good Hard Rolls to put it on & then serve it with a Pasta Salad.

I bet this smells great while it is cooking!!!

Re: Slow cooker/Crock pot recipes

Salsa Chicken

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup salsa
1 package reduced sodium taco seasoning
1 can reduced fat cream of mushroom soup (condensed)
1/2 cup reduced fat sour cream

Directions
Add chicken to slow cooker.
Sprinkle taco seasoning over chicken.
Pour salsa and soup over chicken.
Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
Serve with rice.
NOTES:
You may use half the packet of taco seasoning (I have started doing this to reduce sodium content myself)
Some slow cookers cook faster than others. I just got a new one and it only needs to cook for 6 hours! It is soo tender the chicken just shreds!

Re: Slow cooker/Crock pot recipes

Here's a brisket recipe for the slow cooker:

The bbq sauce, mushrooms and potatoes are starred because it wasn't in the original recipe, it was something I added in so I don't have a measurement for it. I haven't made this for awhile but I use about a cup of sliced mushrooms, quarter 2-3 potatoes and just a little bit of bbq sauce, maybe 1/8 cup?

Brisket
Ingredients
1 (3 pound) beef brisket
2 (12 ounce) bottles chili sauce
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
2 teaspoons garlic powder
*bbq sauce
*mushrooms
*potatoes

Directions
-Place the beef brisket into a slow cooker.
-In a medium bowl, mix together the chili sauce, onion soup mix, and garlic powder. Pour over the brisket.
-Cover, and cook on the low setting for 8 to 10 hours. Slice the brisket against the grain, and pour the gravy over the slices.

Re: Slow cooker/Crock pot recipes

Dirty Water Dogs
Simple and TOO easy!

I can beer (any kind you like)
1 package of sauerkraut
about 2 teaspoons brown sugar
about 10-20 hot dogs.

let cook on High for about four hours. then just keep it hot.
That's it!

(note, i got a bigger crockpot for my shower and we used it on the 4th and doubled the recipe because the pot was kinda empty- just make sure hot dogs are submerged)
