So, grammy hasn't been doing good

We are moving right along with the chemo treatments and she has had minimal reactions to it so far (thank goodness) but she is been SUPER depressed lately. She stays in bed for days at a time and crys a lot.

So today my mom and my aunt went and adopted her a puppy (1/2 beagle 1/2 hot dog)from the North Shore Animal League and surprised her with it today. She got out of bed, for the first time in 3 days, and was laughing and playing with her. I called there to see what she thought and she was so happy. She said that the puppy brightened up her day and she loves her. I think she named her Molly. I'm going over there after work to see all of them! I'll post pictures tomorrow!!!

Keep praying for her. Every little prayer helps. Thanks again, girls. You are all so great and supportive

Thanks, I posted a while ago that she was diagnosed with lung cancer, but the doctors are VERY optomistic and are pretty much garaunteeing that she will be fine after surgery, but it kills me to see her sad. So to know that the puppy made her happy and got her out of bed today really made my day!!

Im sorry about your grammy.... she sounds like she is really important to you. Ill keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Sounds like she had a good day though...

awww that was so sweet of your mom & aunt and an amazing idea- they use puppies a lot in geriatric medecine to lift patient spirits.

It's great. I swear, she hasn't gotten out of bed since Tuesday morning...

I had no idea your grammy (that is what my neice calls my mom) was sick. I am so sorry to hear that.

I am so glad the puppy was a huge success! Come on how can anyone not be happy around a puppy?!!?!?!

she will be fine!!!

Thank you. I'm all teary eyed now. I know she will be ok with the lung cancer, it's the depression that scares me. But I spend as much time with her as I can. Thanks for the lovely words. I appreciate it.

Danielle I'm glad your mother and aunt were able to cheer your grandmother up. I hope she continues to do well with her chemo!

AWWWWWWWWWw that is very nice.

depression is so common in cancer patients - she is lucky to have a great family that is looking out for her. I know that my uncle goes through some serious depression at times also - we tried to get him to go to italy so he would feel better . . . but he got so sick he had to come home a few days later and we all felt so guilty - he has highs and lows now

he always says ' i wasnt sick until they started TREATING me for cancer' it is so hard

I am glad the puppy worked - I can't wait to see pics
