And she was like 'Oh, hell no -- kick her pregnant arse OUT of the bridal party!!'
I don't know what to do... I know this a decision I have to make for myself but I guess I kinda of want to hear what you guys have to say... see if I get any insight into the situation.
I did the math and going by what the doc told her she's going to be not 6 mos PG as I thought but a full EIGHT months PG!!! She's going to be a house. I went to the bridal shop and the dress situation ain't pretty either. We have NO idea how big she's going to be. I don't like the fact that she's going to have to be in a completely different dress than the other girls (except the MOH) and at 8 mos... she can pop at any time... plus I have no patience to be accomodating her on my wedding day.
FH totally wants to boot her. My mom wants me to boot her and even says that she'll THANK me later for booting her because she will be so uncomfortable that day. She ALSO told me that my family will gasp in the church... not because of me, the bride, but because I let an unmarried pregnant BM walk down the aisle. My family is quite traditional and I know this will be quite the scandal....
I don't think I want that kind of negative attention & snickering on my wedding day. I know she's making her ploys for attention in all this and I'm sure I've only seen the tip of the iceberg.
I don't know what to do. I love her and I want her in but I also don't want her to be such a huge distraction and spectacle on my wedding day....
Anyone?

Re: So I told Mom about the knocked up BM....
I don't really understand what the problem is. If you love your friend like you say you do, then whether or not she's PG shouldn't be the issue. You're the bride - no matter how big she is, she is not going to take the focus away from you. Sure, a few people may comment about her being unwed and pregnant, which it seems like you're concerned about, but I don't think that will be such a huge deal that it will overshadow your day. If she's still comfortable with being a BM, then I do not think you should ask her to step down.

Re: So I told Mom about the knocked up BM....
Not that I feel I need to defend myself or my post, but I decided to post just to make a few clarifications for those of you that were 'saddened' or 'disturbed' by this post as well as for those of you who did not read carefully enough but yet felt that whatever small part you did read gave you the right judge me or simply extracted the parts you found offensive and only addressed those.
First of all, my first instinct and thought in all this was, and still is, she's pregnant, so what? She will still be my BM and of course I still want her there. My reasons for even considering suggesting she step down were NOT because of the way my pictures would look or some other shallow interpretation of the situation. How anyone could think from reading this post that the only reason for 'firing' or 'booting' (none of which were my words, they came from FH, and were meant in a lighthearted tone, I might add, as was the pg expression) a pg BM is because of the way she looks or is going to look in pics only tells me some of us didn't do too well in reading comprehension. I think pregnant women are beautiful.
My family, however, does NOT think young unwed pg women are quite as beautiful. However liberal and accepting I am, they are definitely not and this will bring ALOT of negative attention and drama to me and to her on my wedding day. This is just NOT something that is OKAY in my family. It will be more than just a few snickers and gasps. It will be a big to-do. I'm glad that for you guys it's no biggie, but not in my family. So it's pretty easy for you to sit there and say 'just stick by your friend'.
So while it's okay for alot of people get on here and whine about what their FMIL will say when she finds out you invited so and so and this causes a major drama for you and your family -- no one can quite see how this could be a major drama and a major source of avoidable and undue stress in my family. Interesting. I was surprised at how judgemental most of you were...
Anyway... maybe my post sounded a little brash but it was meant to be in a very lighthearted tone, sometimes that doesn't come across correctly in writing. I must say it was very interesting reading your replies... especially since you don't know the whole story...which was indeed the kind of replies I wanted.
Anyway, in case anyone cares to know, I spoke with my PG BM whom I lovingly refer to as 'Buddha' now . We discussed the situation. I told her I had the dress situation all figured out, but that she had to think about how she was going to feel being 8 mos pg and being in the wedding as well as the family situation. There are alot of factors for her to consider for herself. She is going to start breaking the news to the family and we'll take it from there and see how it goes. She told me from the beginning that she would not be offended at all if I asked her to step down and that she would totally understand. I told her that I wanted to make sure she knew how important it was to me that she be in and how much I wanted her to be in and that we will work something out.
I guess I forgot to mention that yes, she is my cousin.

I would not kick her out. I would ask her if she is comfortable? Ask her if she would be comfortable in the dress if not I would find a dress she would be comfortable in.

Personally, I wouldn't kick her out for being prego....but I would talk to her and ask her how she feels about it... if she wants to leave the bridal party on her own...then thats fine... but to ask her to leave I wouldnt do that.
Keep us posted.

I'm sorry, is this BM a part of your family in some way? Why does it matter to them what her personal situation is? Do you or they really think the guests are going to be focusing all their thoughts and attention on her on your wedding day when you are the bride? I don't get that. I understand it's not the greatest thing to be unwed and pregnant, but I don't think it should be made out to be SO scandalous. This isn't the 1950s, it happens, and good for a woman to have the baby instead of having an abortion like a lot of people would do in that situation. Especially if they know they're going to be so judged!

Re: So I told Mom about the knocked up BM....
I think you are too worried about what your family may say. I had a friend in my wedding (a reader), my family did not like this friend at all!!! I heard it from my father mother...ect not to have this friend involved AT ALL. Thats when you have to think really hard if this friend is really worth all the BS (if you REALLY are good friends) my friend was worth the BS, thats when I told my family this is MY wedding MY day and I will have it the way I WANT!!! I would not have changed a thing I had a PERFECT day, because I had everything the way I wanted and not what my family wanted!! I would NEVER think about asking a friend (a true friend) not to be involved! I think you should really think how close you are to this girl, a TRUE friend would not consider not having her friend by her side NO MATTER what people say!!!
