So upset, I need you girls

My friend Mikey called me last April. I was busy and told him I would call him back. It was such a beautiful day, I remember it like it was yesterday. We lost touch for a while after that, I never called him back, and he never called me again.

I asked my Fh if he heard from Mike lately, he said, 'You know what, Im gonna call him today to say whats up'.

Rob(FH) called him today, and his voice mail picked up. FH lef a message. Three mins later, FH cell rings, and it says Mikey on the caller ID. He answers, and it isnt Mike, its his Dad. FH says, Hello? Whats up Mikey. His Dad says, hi, this is Mr *^&*(, I am sorry to tell you this, but Mike passed away in December. He had a massive cerebral hemmorhage. My Fh was totally stunned. I havent stopped crying thinking about only if I would have called him back, I could have seen him again, we all could have hung out. FH asked what happened. Mike was at work, had a bad headache, and collapsed at work. Was rushed to the hospital, and died on the way.

I am really sorry to be so depressing, but please, everyone, stay in touch with people you care about. The wedding plans, the dj, flowers, dress etc, is never as important as the people in your life. Always make sure you keep up the relationships that mean something to you.

I know this is depressing, but after a bottle of wine, and thinking, I needed to vent. Im sorry to be such a downer.

That is so sad!!!! We are here anytime you need to talk/write. You are so right about everything you said. Things like this really put everything else in perspective. I am so sorry that you lost your friend. I'm sure he knew that you cared.

That wasn't depressing, that was a wake-up call and a reality check. I am truly sorry for the loss of your friend. Please know though that we have all not returned phone calls to good friends at one time or another. You had no way of knowing that Mikey would pass away and it's not your fault. My thoughts and prayers are with you sweetie.

Oh my God, I am so sorry. That was one of the saddest stories I have ever heard. Please don't blame yourself- all of us get busy and forget to call those we care about. I live far away from my family and friends and frequently weeks go by without calling. I miss everyday moments and its hard. But its also hard to keep in touch with those you care about with everything you have to do. I know you want to say- if only- but please don't beat yourself up over this. I am sure he knew you cared about his friendship.

You guys are the greatest, thank you so much. I sit here and I feel like I wish I could hug you all.

What really hurts, is that FH said to me, 'Before I call, are we going to invite him to the wedding'. I said, OMG, of course. Just because we havent talked in so long, dosent mean we arent friends anymore. And look what happened, he is gone now, and I will never see him again. I didnt even know he died. I am going to call his Dad and ask where he is buried. I need to go there. I need to say Goodbye.

Don't say that!!! We really don't mind AT ALL. And as someone else said, it's a wakeup call. I always say I need to be better at keeping in touch. We are here to support each other wedding related or not!!

Please don't say that. This is one of the most meaningful posts I have ever read on here. It puts it all in perspective. It's very sad but its reality and you needed us. I am glad you feel safe enough to post here. Remember we are here if you need.
