Bridal - Hope your post was a JOKE
Listen, ladies, do a search for Bridal and see what this jerks last 'bright' comment was to a legitimate and NOT STUPID question. This person really needs to get a life and talk about being hypocritical! Ha ha. What a joke. Please everyone, just ignore bridal from now on. Its obviously some sick lowlife with nothing better to do.

BRIDAL, why do you come to this board??
I can't even imagine that you are really getting married (and if you are, to whom??). You have posted one message before and it was just as rude as this one. GET OFF!!

Bridal - Strong Assumptions on your part
1 - How do you know that I stop at giving my church 10% of my salary, or that I haven't been contributing since I started working back in high school? And btw, there are very few people who can afford to contribute a full tithe, and I'd be willing to bet you give 5% and claim you are tithing. 2 - Regarding living together....last I checked Adam & Eve weren't married, and God's only issue with them was lying, not co-habitating. The church's rules were not created by God, but by a group of men who interpreted the Bible one very specific way. And if you haven't noticed, they have started to change their mind about some of these rules, and update them to fit our way of life. 3 - If nobody questioned religion, we'd all be Jewish. Duh. 4 - If you really were a good Christian, you'd accept people for the way they are, not pass judgements on any decisions or mistakes they may have made in their life. I'm sure you are not without regret or sin. Those in glass houses should not throw stones.

the 'bridal' persona...
obviously this person is trying to evoke some comment from all of us. I agree with whoever said just ignore this person. I don't know why anyone would waste their time posting such a hateful message. That saying is true, 'it takes all types'.

So whats the deal if you DONT get married by the church...
I'm having the same problem. I heard that if you don't get married in the church that the marriage is not recognized within the church, but it is recognized by the State of NY. I'm having problems findng a Rabbi and priest that wok together for my ceremony.

just joined the Unatarian church..
Well, you don't offically 'join' but we spoke to their minister to marry us and we really liked that religion. We were both baptized catholic but don't agree with alot of their ideas and 'rules' So we decided to raise our kids Unatarian. They have a doctrine and it stresses being a good person, community, accepting others and free thinking. I'm not trying to push a religion, but if you find yourself no longer agreeing with the religion you were raised with but don't want you or your kids to be without one , it's a good option. Bridal, if your for real, which i doubt you are, you're I wouldn't agree with any religion that condemns others like that!

bridal......
What is up with your comments? Why do you even come to this board? I dont think you are a REAL bride, because this is a happy time for all the girls who share their most joyous moments. I have been married since August and I still come here to help others out with their planning. Are you a MAN_HATER or something, because you have such a negative attitude towards these girls who come here for help. If it wasnt for this site, I would be bald by now. I appreciate and respect everyones opinions, but yours you need to kep to yourself!!! If you are a real bride why are you getting married?? And I feel bad for your husband to be. Although by your mans name, it says 'er' What is that all about??

I just started reading through this thread, and I am sorry you have had bad experiences with the priests. I thought I would too, since I didn't join a church when I moved to LI. My FH was baptized, but was not brought up religious, so I thought this was also going to be a problem. I contacted a priest from a church and we met with him. He couldn't have been nicer. In fact, he got back to me within 5 hours of me stopping in at the rectory to inquire about getting married in the parish. I *think* he said there was no charge for pre-cana, however it is 5 sessions, with the 5th session being a mass for all the participants. I asked him how much money he needed, if any, as a deposit for the wedding, (I don't know if they need one-everyone else seems to want money up front) and he very nicely said not to worry, nothing is needed at this time. He couldn't have been nicer! I was sweating it too, because the pastors of my church back home were nasty and gruff. Seems to be hit and miss with the church, but then it is that way with the vendors, too.

I agree - every church and priest is radically different. I was hoping that our wedding in the church might rekindle some of the connection I once had - oh well, so much for that hope.Welcome New Vendors
