I personally dont like the combo vendors concept. I think speciality is important. Honestly, I never thought of even getting a photo/video combo before either. Primarily because Ive seen a video person i like and they dont do picture.
I was talking to FSIL last night and she was saying its better to hire photo/video from same company because other people will 'compete.' I didnt really get that, until she explained they would compete for the best angle and shot. That is why sometimes its good to hire video/photo from same company since they know how to work together.
Idk about that answer though. If there is a good shot, both people should find a way to get it. And if they are professionals, they should know how to work together.
Has anyone heard of this before? Do you buy into it?

Re: spin off of 'combo vendors' topic
i've heard of this, and we happen to be going with a videographer who is personal friends with our photographer, so we know this is something that wont happen.

I have seen it. I can count them on one hand though. Got to remember that sometimes angles dont matter with the size of the cameras now. Back in the day they would get in eachother way but now everything is different now.
I have seen DJs start getting a party going half way though dinner when the Photo and Video guys are getting to eat. That pisses them off.

This is exactly why I did my photo and video together someone told me the same thing. The photographer and videographer knew eachother, had worked together for years and worked like a machine together, they set up shots for eachother and compliemented eachother...it was the best decision I recommend it.
