What would you do if you hated your engagement ring????

Not due to financial reasons of not liking it, but rather not your style or the fh being clueless-- what would you do???

anyways, I didn't HATE my ring, but I don't love it either... so I explained why and we decided to get a new one together. Now he loves that one just as much as I do

I agree I think I would just talk to him and tell him-- but I give you credit because I wouldnt want to hurt his feelings-- but I wouldnt want a ring im not loving for the rest of my life either--- but they obviously lovee us so they shouldnt have a problem--jmho

If I hated it, I would keep the center stone and change just the setting-I would tell him definitely. He wouldnt be upset, he would rather me love it then not

No way, this question comes up every now and then, every so often there is someone who is unhappy with their ring...and they ask how to go about telling FH.
For me, I showed him pics of what I liked and told him to pick one and he did

I know I can be a snob when it comes to these things and I know I wanted at least 1 carrot, and I know I commanded FH not to buy me a ring that I didn't approve of... 3 months into our relationship lol ... he proposed a year later...

BUT, if he presented a grain of salt on aluminum foil to me I would love it cherish it never change it or upgrade it...

BUT, I would buy myself a big fat Moissanite ring so that I can walk around in my newly engaged daze...

So... I'm the 1 person that said 'learn to love it' ?

I don't think its a stuck up kind of thing... its just a personal thing... great question

Actually FH asked me the other day about whether I love my ring, because my cousin just got a 3 carrot oval one and I keep saying how gorgeous oval stones are.

But it really made me think about it. I was just so emotional after it was all said and done, I think he could have given me lint and I would have went around and said omg I just got engaged, have you seen my lint?

I voted for keep the main stone and change the setting...but also telling him in a gently way. that's what I just did, I loved my ring for all it represented but it's the only jewlery I really have and ever really want...so I wanted to LOVE it just for it, too. LOL. Anyway, we went for wedding bands and I was hoping to find a band I could wear with it that would help but I didn't nothing I liked even went with it....so I gently coaxed him towards a new setting and he was fine with it. He likes it better than what I had originally and told me he was more concerned with the diamonds than the band.

I did feel bad and I'm sure will get mixed reactions from some but it's me who will wear it forever~~~

before this happened, I would have voted learn to love it. Never imagined I would change my engagement ring but t's easier to pass judgement when you're not actually wearing a ring you're trying to learn to love!!!

We actually returned my first ring. I loved it because he gave it to me but after talking for a while he got that it wasn't my style.
So my dad actually ended up giving him my mothers engagement ring who passed away. We took the stone out and he picked out the band and setting. So now the ring is even more special to me and he was very happy to see that!
