Re: Spinoff of MrsFelix how involved in planning are your inlaws?
they offer me endless suggestions..but i know that they realize im a brat and im going to do things my way regardless of how they see it...but i know they want to be involved..so i let them pick out trivial things..if i cant decide between two things ill ask for their opinion and go with it...i try to be sweet...we are getting married and blending our families..it would suck to start off on a bad foot

that's funny, sneaky lady...
to my inlaws its like what-- you're getting married? They are in the middle of a big DIVORCE.. so we are not the priority topic at this time...

my inlaws give suggestions but know that ultimatly, i'm an anal-retentive princess and have to do my own thing! but FMIL is always there to come out to vendors w/ me and wants to be there for my dress! they are only paying for their own friends at the wedding so they are being cool!

they are paying for a lot of it, but in terms of planning they have been no help, rather than suggesting the travel agent for our honeymoon.

They arent at all. I'll get reamed if I say the reason. Hmmm. I am a glutton for punishment - No pay, no say. I do keep them informed and show them things along the way but as far as any decisions? Nope. No dice.

My In-Laws have no Clue... They are from Trinidad, and they don't know anything about weddings up here... They haven't asked, and the only thing my MIL has said is that she has a dress already ... But we WILL be going to the dress shops if its up to me!!!!
It's not that they don't care, they just don't know. But we getting along so well!!!

barely...they don't even bother asking about details or anything about how it's going and when we first started planning, ffil said something along the lines of 'we'll let you do whatever you want, just tell us when and where to show up'
the only time they are involved is after we make a decision and they decide to comment only if it's not ok with them.
i know some girls want their inlaws to butt out, but i'd love it if mine were just a lil bit more involved

My FMIL is out of town, so I try to keep her involved through weekly phone calls. We butt heads on a few things, so now my FH and I make sure that we have 100% agreed and we confront his mom with a united front! I think she got the point, and now she keeps most of her opinions to herself!

My FMIL is awesome. She was emailing my mom about her dress - very cute She went with me to pick the BM gowns. I am glad she is so involved, since my mom is OOT.

My FMIL is the best. She offers suggestions but understands that I will be making the final decisions. She is also so excited about taking me dress shopping (my mom past away 3 months ago so she is the closest thing to a mom I have). She told me she is so happy b/c she has a second daughter now. I truly lucked out, getting to marry into such a great family. I also get along really well with FSIL.

My MIL has been involved every step of the way! I love having her opinions and she has great taste! I even found my dress with her! Ultimately , it is our decision, but I encourage her to offer suggestions. SHe is very excited. I am very lucky. I love my MIL and would not have it any other way.

Re: Spinoff of MrsFelix how involved in planning are your inlaws?
My FILs are in NH, so really not much. I was sending my MIL pictures of things I had selected, and she has been great about everything, even gushing about my dress and flower choices.
She told me last week she found a dress, and she offered to do the calligraphy for the invites. FBIL used to work as a florist, so he offered to do the flowers. I would rather him take it easy the few days he's here, since he's in Oregon. I might consider having him do the ceremony flowers, since I didn't organize that with my florist, and he will feel like he's contributed.
My family on the other hand.....they've been helpful when I needed their opinions. But otherwise, they all have their own things going on.....

Re: Spinoff of MrsFelix how involved in planning are your inlaws?
My FMIL asks how things are going, but that is the extent of her involvement. My mother is convinced I am the original Bridezilla and barely discusses wedding plans at all. (of course since I lost it on her about her how 'absolutely drop dead gorgeous' my sister looked in a BM dress I picked, that might be the reason )

Zero. My FMIL would love to be more involved..but everyone in his family is so embarrassed that his father won't chip in so they don't even ask me about it.

They aren't involved at all. i don't think they want to be. They are happy for us and ask how the planning is going but take no steps to help us. I am proud to say that we did all of this ourselves

Re: Spinoff of MrsFelix how involved in planning are your inlaws?
I am sure mine would have wanted to be involved- but since my Dad is paying- I only involved him
and I feel weird doing things with my FMIL- b/c we look so much a like- people have mistaked her for my Mom- and that is way to upsetting for me
