spinoff of stupidest comments... E-RING MANHANDLERS!!!

Has anyone else had someone 'manhandle' their e-ring??? This BUGS ME TO NO END!!!

They ask to see the ring, I put out my hand and there is touching of the ring, turning of the ring, rubbing of the diamond...

I dont get it!! I don't mind someone touching my hand to get a closer look at it, but BACK OFF THE BLING, PEOPLE.

Anyone else feel violated by this?

Yes the same thing happens to me! People always ask if they can try it on! Of course I don't let them. I got balls put into my ring instead of a ring guard so it is very hard to get off (nned soapy water). This one annoying girl kept asking me and asking me to try it on and I kept saying No, and I said even if I wanted you to, it doesn't come off.....so SHE TRIED TO PULL IT OFF MY FINGER! Some people are so crazy.

Nah, doesn't bother me at all. Try it on, check it out, whatever!

It's a beautiful ring, people just can't help themselves!

Exactly!! One of my closest friends put her thumb right on the diamond when she first saw my ring! I was like WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING????? I'm always amazed when people ask to try it on. I don't care when it is close friends and family, but I couldn't believe the nerve of some people at work. I think people just don't realize.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but why is it so bad when someone asks to try your ring on? Do you feel that way about all your jewlery, or just your e-ring?
Just curious, since I have zero problem with it. It is just a piece of jewlelry to me. (albiet a nice one!) However, I know it's a touchy subject, so I never ask to try on someone elses.
Now if they wanted to try my man on, then I'd surely have a problem with it!!

For me there is a lot of sentimental value attached to the e-ring and it is very personal to me. I would feel really violated!!

I think I'd feel the same way with a piece of family heirloom jewelry.

ETA-- AGREED about the man part!!!

FH likes to put his finger all over the diamond because he knows it drives me insane ... he keeps telling me it's 'His Harley Davidson' I have on my finger and he can touch it how he pleases! UGH, it drives me crazy!

How 'bout this--I showed my FMIL my WEDDING RING and she put it right on her finger!!!!! THis from a woman who has been divorced for 30 years but is still 'Mrs.' and still wears her engagement ring!

I guess to some people they're just rings...ro me they mean so much more.

Jan05...i know what you mean. FH always is touching my ring. He asks me if it's clean, then touches every inch of it. I'm like 'it was clean til ya had to go and touch it!!'

We were in the jewelry store on saturday and I had it steamed and he's like 'you are obsessed!' ... I said 'isn't it good that I take care of this expensive piece of jewelry???' He just doesn's understand the need for sparkles!

Whenever we have it cleaned.. we never let it out of our sight. Not taking that chance. Murphy's Law, you know..

Is it wort it to get an ultrasonic cleaner?
FH loves to ask me if I still love it and if it's big enough - I think he's just fishing for compliments!

Ooh - that just sounded kind of dirty???

The kids at school always want to look at my ring - but they have more respect than half the adults - putting their hands all over my ring!!!

This is a funny thread. I only had people close to me ask to try it on. And I let them. But hey, it is beautiful!
FH always laughs when we are going out b/c I have to clean the ring first

Yea- i hate when people say 'Hey, its too big on you, let me have it'- Well, hey, just cause it turns a little to the side or falls sometimes - jsut means the diamond is too D A M N big and heavy.

I like the ultrasonic... it was like 90 bucks at Sharper Image. i also cleaned my necklace which is platinum, and my stainless steel watch in there. It makes a FUNKY noise and I was a lil scared of it at first, but it really does clean VERY WELL!!

i don't know how true this is, i have heard that cleaning it too often in the ultrasonic can loosen the prongs... but my setting is prong-less so it has not been an issue for me.
