Spinoff to Credit Card talk... why don't halls accept CC?

Can anyone explain to me why on EARTH halls don't take credit cards?!?!?!

I understand the DAY OF payment...

but why not the 90 days before payment?!?!

We're paying TAX (That's for damn SURE!!!)

So why isn't using a CC an option for paying part of the bill for a hall?

Because the hall has to pay a percentage to the credit card company.

Because the hall has to pay a percentage to the credit card company.

oooooh... God FORBID they lose a cent of $$!!! Every other business on EARTH accepts credit cards but them... jeezz! YET they'll charge to SLICE cake!

My hall does take CCs thankfully!!!!!!!! Even for the last payment.

yup..i agree. plus you can always dispute a charge with a CC. so if a bride isn't happy with something--they can withhold payment and halls would rather have cash in hand.

Weren't you going to pay for the big payment with your credit card if you paid it before a certain date a while ago?

East Wind takes CC? They told me I couldn't use my Amex for the down payment. I have given them all cash.

also, I think there's some way you can dispute the charge after the fact and the halls don't want to take the risk of defending themselves in a dispute.

I bet they don't declare all that we give them on their income taxes. That is also why so many vendors want cash. A friend of the family had a wedding band and he didn't declare all he made.

Since we're getting married at a hotel, that is a major chain, they accept them thankfully.

We're coming out of this with a lot of points, using our Starwood American Express at a Hyatt!

The lady at my Hall said it was becuase they don't 'claim' everything...

My place takes cc for all payments.. I was suprised that why I asked her why other halls don't do it.

i SO WISH fox hollow took cc cards for our last payment bc i dont knwo how we are going ot come up with that big of a chunk of change...... i know we will gets some gifts that we will cash the day after... then we could pay off the cc card.
hmm do you think any halls will 'hold' your check until the day after to make sure there is enough in an account???

A few halls we went to said that they had been burned by CC in the past. Some people put the charge on their card and then don't pay their bill. Then the hall and CC company are left trying to get $ from someone evading them.

The rotten apples ruin it for everyone.
