My invites...and FH and I are big foodies so we had to have our sushi bar and porterhouse carving station at the cocktail hour.

Re: Splurging!
I splurged on my shoes too. Yeah, they were a lot of money, and I'll probably never wear them again, but they made me so happy, it was worth it.
Uh, other than that? There was not a lot of splurging going on. This was a seriously budget wedding. I did not want to be one of those brides who keeps spending and spending and then has a heart attack when she sees the bills. Because that could have been me, easily, I know me. So I mostly kept an eye on everything.
OK, maybe I splurged a little on cake toppers. I had several. I wanted a vintage one, so I bought one on eBay for $65, which never even turned up at the reception or after, either the staff lost it or dropped it. And I bought a second one to go on the cake because my mom loved it, the Wilton love birds one for $40. I also bought a pair of white ceramic birds on eBay just because I thought they were cute. They were only $10 with shipping, and I have a cute picture of them on our sweetheart table. And I'll have them forever.

Re: Splurging!
Mine's definitely the reception hall (Castle on the Hudson); great ambience, great food, so we're happy with that splurge! My dress and veil etc were way UNDER budget, which just leaves me more money for amazing SHOES. Life is GOOD...
