St. Lucia---Helicopter vs. private car????

St. Lucia---Helicopter vs. private car????

What are your girls thoughts? The only three things that are keeping me from the helicopter ride are:

1) afraid of heights.
2) How trained are the pilot's SO I do not die on my honeymoon?
3) The luggage goes in a car to the hotel (takes almost 2 hrs and the helicopter will be there in 12min)

Any recommendations or advise?

I vote helicopter - if they weren't safe - they wouldn't be offered - it's Sandals, not Helicopter Rides R Us.

car is probably cheaper. And you prolly get to see more of the island. Helicopter will get you there faster and you can always eat and hang out till your stuff comes.

I would go for the helicopter because driving in their cars made me so nervous!! First of all they drive on the other side of the road so that throws me of all together. Also the roads wind back and forth up and down the mountains and there are many hairpin turns that would me so scared. Especially when there are no guardrails! Plus ton ride in a helicopter is a more memorable event. HTH!

I am going to St. Lucia also. I want to take the helicopter but they is a 4person minimum unless you pay for all 4 seats.

I'd go wit the car. Plus I am a big fraidy cat when it comes to planes or helicopters!!!! But here is what is funny.. But i'll get on one of those scary rollercoasters at Six Flags and that doesn't bother me!!!!

i dont know, which one sounds more appealing to you?

we had an hour drive from the airport at nice to monaco...at first i was dreading this, but i was surprised how fast the drive went, our driver was pretty fast though lol and pulling crazy moves. But Dh and i loved it, we got to see nice and see other parts of france, the whole time we were looking out the window like OMG look at that, and commenting on everything. Even seeing their highways and just different things we loved seeing. It was also my dream since i was a teenager to go there so it was surreal and was fascinated with everything.

I would ask others who did the drive, if its an interesting ride, not sure if there will be lots to see. Also 2 hours is different than 1 hour, so not sure if you would mind being in the car for that long.

The helicopter sounds cool real cool too though

At first we wanted to do the helicopter but then we decided it was not worth the $500 roundtrip...or whatever it was.

We did the Sandals bus and it was fun...the way there we were so excited and it went so fast. You get to see the whole island and it was a really good experience...although very eye-opening. It really made me appreciate my townhome and my job here in the states! But the island is so gorgeous and yes its an 1 1/2 hr but wasnt so bad. The way back...that was another story. We had a crazy driver and I felt tad car sick....so did everyone else. IT was nauseating. So what it comes down to is: are you more afraid of heights or more afraid of car sickness! Take dramamine!

We did the Sandals bus. It is was cool. Extra money did not come out of our pockets. And beside it was relaxing.

i agree the drive went very fast on the way there you talk through most of the drive and sightsee that you dont even realize how fast the time goes- i had an opposite experience it was soo much better the drive on the way back to the airport we had a great driver and it was only us and another couple i dozed off- i guess it depends on the driver i personally would save the money but it is all about what makes you comfortable

We went to St. Lucia about 5 years ago and did both. Car on the way to the hotel, helicopter on the way back.

The car ride was kind of brutal, bad roads, very mountainous etc. I think they were building a better road at the time, I'm not sure if it's been completed since then.

Honestly, the helicopter ride was neat, but it's a lot more expensive. Despite the bad roads, etc. I would probably opt for the drive.

IMO if the cost of the helicopter isn't a factor then i say go for it. We took the ride through St. Lucia a few years ago and i got really car sick! Its a nice ride that you'll probably end up taking during a tour, just not as long. We took a helicopter ride in Antigua and it is amazing! I've been on helicopters a few times and i love it. DH is afraid of flying, but now he loves helicopters!
