Starting your OWN family traditions??

anyone else SUPER excited about doing this???
ive been looking forward to being able to do this for soooo long!!! were starting this christmas!! when i was little up till i was about 13 my family along with my aunt and cousins and my serogate family (my neighbors who have become family) would all drive to VT the first week of Dec. and cut down a fresh christmas tree. spend the night go to dinner at a local stake house then on the way home stop at this HUGE 3 building antique store get lost there for hours and then come home and we looked forward to it EVERY year!.. but since we've gotten older the tradition died.. so... WERE BRINGING IT BACK!!! FH and i are heading to VT after thanks giving to get our FIRST christmas tree.

so tell me.. whats goung to be your first family tradition?!?!

We have had a Hanukah bush for the past 2 years. I am Christian so we always have a xmas tree, but FH is Jewish so we want our kids to have both religions. So, in addition to the minorah, we now ha

ve a hannukah bush so xmas is not soo overpowering in our home. FH never had one growing up, so he likes it.

i want my own holiday! i can't wait until someone gives one up so i can have people over at my house. easter is taken.. so is christmas.. maybe i'll have to settle for like new years day or something. either way it's fine with me!

i cant wait to do that either but unfortunately.. i live at home still

oh that is so nice!! i never even had a real tree!

well once I get a house I want to take Easter and have both families together. I figure, no one REALLY looks forward to Easter food so I won't be messing up a holiday that people have been looking forward to for a whole year LOL

i also look forward to Christmas breakfast with JUST FH. Every year, I feel like we are running around all day long so I want to just have a few hours to ourselves to exchange gifts and relax.

when i was little i really liked christmas eve. my family NEVER decorates the tree before then.

we used to go out to eat, then pile into our station wagon and drive around the neighbohood looking at christmas lights.. then we would go home decorate our tree and bake fresh cookies for santa.

ive always loved that. now that we are older we pretty much only saved the decorating part. everything else pretty much stopped.

I really want to start this again with my family.

ssshh- its really an excuse for me to feed my ornament addiction..LOl Now I can get blue ad silver ones too- haha

oh yeah and one we do already is we go to all the 'christmas light neighborhoods' and bring Brutus and like point out the lights to him like he cares?

im getting that warm gooey feeling inside reading all your stores!!! and maybe stealing some for myself!!

my cousin and her kids do something that i cant wait to start also.. every year for thanksgiving they watch the Parade on tv together then.. when santa wraps up the end of the parade.. they get their first christmas gift.. like a book or small toy. i think thats such a cute idea !

FH's family used to go to the parade but they stopped - maybe they will start again when we have kids!

aww- brutus cares...if he is with his people- he is happy!

i used to wake never be bale to sleep EVER so i would wake my parents up every hour to run down stairs and they would always tell me to wait till5 then wake them up... so when they started getting sick of that happening every year they gave in to letting me have my stocking in my room so i could waste some time opening it and THEN wake them up!! hahaha im in for it with my own kids

I got another one...

X-mas shows..Charlie Brown, Garfield, Frosty, Rudolph..ALL of them... I cant wait to watch w/ our kids.

Before FH worked so many nights before x-mas, I used to make him watch w. me. We would do the whole cookie and hot chocolate thing.
