STDs- Do I HAVE to send them out????

So, I am constantly seeing people on here talking about their save the dates. So..i was just wondering...am I the only one not doing them???? Do I HAVE to send out save the dates? I kinda thought I'd save money by NOT sending them out but now i'm starting to feel like i'm the only one NOT doing them and that I should be??????????

ya! I'm glad I'm not the only one sending them out! Thanks everybody!
I think I will stick to my original decision and Not do them. I rather save the money for something else. All of the 'important' people know when my wedding is and will be there. And for those that don't, hey, maybe they won't come and then i'll save money. um...oops...did i say that out loud? Just kidding....

You don't need to send STD's. Many people have no idea what they are (it's a newish trend) and honestly, they confused the heck out of some people I sent them to. Save your money and put it towards nice invitations.

you dont have to... We are doing it because we have alot of out of towners and busy people. My FH is a business owner and alot of business associates are invited that are extremly busy.. so its like a heads up kind of thing

We are not sending them out because all of my OOT guests already know the date, we are not having our wedding in the summer or a busy time of year and I'd rather spend the $$ on something else.

I don't think you have to send them out. As of late it's become a popular trend and isn't such a bad idea. In this day and age of people running in 10 different directions, this gives your guests a chance to mark their calendars and save the date. If you're interested in doing them but don't want to spend a fortune you can make them yourself. Party City, Staples and Office Maxx or any kind of craft store like AC Moore or Michaels sell invitation kits and whatnot. You can always adapt one of them to suit your STD needs. But to answer your question... No, you do not need to send them!

I'm not! For three reasons:

1) I don't want everyone we invite to come (is that mean?!?) - so I am hoping no STDs will weed out some of the more distant relations (cause all the close friends/relatives already have the date marked!)

2) Just a way to save a little $$$

3) the Future ILs can't decide on their guest list. I am NOT going to send out STDs (and thus be obligated to invite all the people who receive STDs) and then have them want to change their guest list!
