Okay, here's the thing: I personally vowed never to sent them because I never fell into the whole concept. I never thought my mom would want to send them either. I know a lot of girls do send them and that's fine--I don't want this post to be taken offensively--but I just never wanted to sent them. Now, my mom really wants to send them b/c it's a holiday weekend and she's worried people will make plans to go away. But, it's Memorial Day weekend, not like Thanksgiving or anything. I said I'd rather send out invitations like 2-3 months in advance than send STDs, but I'm having a hard time convincing her. She thinks my idea is tackier than the STDs. What do you guys think? I mean, how early do peole really make plans for Memorial Day weekend? Thanks!

Re: STD's --to get or not to get
That's another goodmpoint, sendint he hotle info in the card. Even if you don't have a lot of OOT guests, some people like to stay at a hotel the ngiht after a wedding do they can party the night away with no worries (I usually o if it's more than an hour away and an eve wedding), and the sooner they know the better, because hotels will book up quickly on that weekend!
let us know what you decide.

I sent STD's just to send them...I thought they were a nice touch & also let me advertise our website which allows OOT's to stay on top of changing information..
For your case, Memorial Day Weekend is a BIG travel weekend & vacation weekend...It is the official kickoff for summer...If you have OOT's, they might have a difficult time getting flights 2 months prior...If they can plan ahead, it would really help...Also many families have Memorial Day traditions & plan then 6 months to a year in advance...
If you are worried about making minimums, i would definately send them out...You don't have to do anything fancy, something simple & homemade if you want!

My wedding is the day after yours and the only reason why i am sending them is b/c it is on a Monday and its a holiday weekend. I want everyone to start making their plans now. Especially those out of town.

I don't think that it's tacky. I think if I were a guest I would want to know so I can plan things ahead and not committ to something then 2 months before my trip get a wedding invitation in the mail and then have to cancel my plans. But in the end it is your day so you do what you feel is right for you.
