stefana question

For Greek brides, how much should I expect to spend on the stefana? My sister is my koumbara, and she is just a student, so I think I'll probably end up buying it. Thing is, my cousin insists that I should go to Astoria for this. Where are you all getting yours? TIA

like the maid of honor, but more of a greek religious thing... the koumbara (female)& koumbaro (male) like best man are 'marrying you' they do the stefana & the rings (veres). They typically pay for the stefana & the favors at the wedding. And they are also suppose to Christen your first child.

you can also have a moh & bm in addition to your koumbari (plural form) you can either have them in the bp or they can dress differently & just match with each other...and yes about the Godparents but some do not go along with it, like if they have a falling out with their koumbari by the time they have kids.

Re: stefana question

Stefana prices range from not very expensive to super duper expensive...from $100 to $300+ to give you an idea

Lambathes will also be in that range, too.

If you don't want to go to Astoria, Bayside has a few places, too...check out page 9 of the Greek Brides Thread for a list of places that sell stefana (I posted it so I know it's there).
