At my cousin's wedding someone stole the money in the card box!!!! Can you believe this?!!!
How many of you will keep the money in the card box? or designate someone to take it out periodically and hold it safe?
I can't believe this could happen!!! This makes me scared to trust that the money will be in there at the end of the night!
Any words?

Re: Stolen Card Box
ours can't be unopened so I'm not too nervous, unless someone walks out with the whole cardbox
I have heard of this happening though. One of FH's friends was telling me that his parents were robbed at gunpoint after their wedding

Re: Stolen Card Box
I've heard of this happeneing before. So sad!!! My mom had gotten a bird cage type thing for our cards and DH's mom said it wasn't safe to do that here. So DH's grandma made us a money pouch bag that she guarded with her life the entire night.

Re: Stolen Card Box
I would go with the money pouch. not just because of the safety, but I really want to be able to thank everyone personally for coming. The only way I see that I will be able to do that is when they come up to me with envelopes.

actually most couples go to every table and say hello to each and every guest, thats what we did. So even the couples who put their envelope in our cardbox, we still went up to them at the table to greet them.

OMG That is just horrible. I feel soo bad for your friend.
I'm assuming our cardbox will be next to us and both our mother's are at the table's closest to us....even if someone were to try to get it my mom is a tiny and fiesty latin lady and Fh's mom is a taller german woman...they won't get out alive

That seriously stinks, I would definitely do a walk thru with your MD and make sure you are happy with where you card box will be.

Re: Stolen Card Box
girls be very very careful
A million years ago at my brothers wedding a guest walked into the mens room where the best man was opening my brothers envelopes. My brother had given them to him to hold, after all it was his bestman and best friend for over 25 years.
No one but myself or FH will be intrusted with such things.

Re: Stolen Card Box
I had a satin money bag, and when I wasn't carrying it, my dad had it with him at his table. He kept an eye on it and so did two of his friends.

Re: Stolen Card Box
That is horrible! Someone my family knows had someone follow the parents (who had the card box home) and robbed them at gun point. I think its a good idea to have someone you trust near by it all the time and when it comes time to taking the envelopes put it in a black bag so it looks like your leaving with junk (its what we did for my brothers wedding)

Re: Stolen Card Box
our place made our 'go to person' sit at the gift table and sign their name to a safe in the hotel. Only myself and that person had access to the safe. i thought it was a bit drastic but i guess not; they must have had problems in the past
