Hi ladies. I have read some posts about some of you that are experiencing stomach problems, and i myself have ibs. i was wondering if anyone else is afraid of their stomach acting up on their wedding day. It makes me really nervous to think about(which of course will make my stomach worse) i don't take any medications and was wondering if any of you are taking any you can suggest. my main problem is diarrhea and i would love to hear about any medication that could make me feel a little better. thanks ladies. (we should start our own tummy support group )

Re: Stomach Troubles
I will joing the support group! I have a very very very bad stomach! it is one thing or the other with me. Did you ever try to take Immodium AD? I was very nervous the day of my sister's wedding (I was her MOH and she was freaking out all night) and when I woke up the morning of her wedding I felt sick to my stomach! I ate a bagel in the morning and took 2 Immodiums and I was fine all day My Dr. also gave me a prescription that dissolves on the back of your tongue suppossed to stop cramping and diarrhea. It doen't work too well for me though.

Re: Stomach Troubles
i hear ya sister! i posted about this awhile ago. i think i will stick to a low carb, high protein, low salt diet prior to the wedding. i know i am very sensitive to carbs, tomatoes, broccoli, fatty meats and dairy, so i will limit the intake. also drink alot of water and exercise is good for ibs.

my doctor gave me that also, and it didn't seem to do any good i take pepto bismol pills and they seem to help a little, but still sometimes nothing seems to help. I especially have problems with my stomach when i go out to eat at restaurants. does that ever happen to you? i really have to watch what i eat when i go out, and not eat to much, otherwise i will be sure to get sick. isn't it horrible? i feel like it has taken over my whol social life luckily fh is extremely understanding!

I agree - restaurants are the worst! I usually order a grilled chicken sandwich. Boring, but usually safe.
How are you with alcohol?
Are you lactose intolerant? I am

Re: Stomach Troubles
I have severe IBS, been hospitalized 4 times from it, and was sooo worried before my wedding that they would open the doors at church and I would say excuse me, I have to run to the bathroom. But to tell you the truth, I was so busy that day, that I wasn't worrying about anything and didn't go to the bathroom once until 9pm and that was just to pee. I think the day will take over and you will just be so caught up in everything that you will forget about your stomach for one day. Oh and when I am really bad, I pop a vicodin, it stops diarreha (sp?).

Oh yea!! They work real good, just be careful, they do constipate most people, but for some reason, they make me normal. Sorry if TMI!!

my ibs comes in waves. i find that if i eat alot of carbs it is worse. lately i have been eating alot of grilled chicken, lean meats on bbq, alot of fish and steamed veggies. also i virtually stopped eating diary with the exception of yogurts.

Re: Stomach Troubles
you poor girls
I am not sure if I am lactose intolerant, but for the past 2 years or so I haven't been able to have milk, it makes me feel sick and nauseated. I eat ice cream, but too much of it will do the same thing. I am a picky eater to begin with and those are the only things I like that give me problems. I feel so bad for all you girls who have problems eating, a friend of mine went through the same thing....(still is). I just hate the fact that I love cereal and can never have a bowl anymore because I can't drink milk...has anyone tried any of the non dairy milks? are they gross?

Re: Stomach Troubles
I have struggled with stomach problems for as long as I can remember, I have ibs and colitis. I was up all night in the bathroom the night before, I didn't think I would be able to get through getting my hair and make-up done that morning. BUT, as one of the other brides said - I think the day kind of took over and I was fine, I made it through the whole day without any troubles. I wish all of you with stomach problems the same luck I had, I know EXACTLY how you feel!!
ETA: I did eat a bagel the morning of the wedding.

Re: Stomach Troubles
I have had stomach problems my whole life. Immodium Ad is one of my best friends. I always have some of that and Gas X in my pocket at all times. You never know when your stomach is going to hurt....Anyway, I am planning to pop 2 immodiums the day of my wedding...just in case. I am afraid that my stomach is going to hurt me during my honeymoon too...especially eating all the new and strange foods. I plan to take immodium everyday....I know this probably isnt good for my body, but I dont know what else to do. I did this last year in Disney, and I was fine....I didnt want to have any incidents while walking through the parks. The parks are clean, but the bathrooms really arent.
Danielle can eat anything. It is like she has a bullet proof stomach. I cannot eat spicey foods, ice cream, whole milk, heavy sauced foods, etc....When I was on the low carb, high protien diet, my stomach actually felt alot better. I think it is because carbs make you feel bloated...and protien doesnt....Well at least I have found that to be true for me.
I think I am going to go back on that diet up until our wedding day.....which is coming in 2 months.
I have gone to the doctor, recently but I havent been tested for IBS in years. I didnt have it when I was younger, and I tested negative for Lactose Intolarence. I probably need to go back to the doctor now and see if I do have IBS or I am Lactose Intollerant.
A few years ago, I had Duatinitous (Sp), and last year I had a minor case of Acid Reflux. The doctor put me on Nexium and Monoclopramide and I was better in 6 months.
I am glad i am not the only one on here that has tummy problems. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one..... Scott

Re: Stomach Troubles
Me me me!!! I have IBS and last year I was in the hospital for five days because they thought I had either Crohn's or Collitis. The tests were inconclusive (my diseases are always something of an anomoly) and I never bothered to go back to finish them up.
It's like everything bothers me, but not always, which is annoying. I can't control it too well by diet because it truly depends on the day. I am nervous about the wedding day but honestly I'm more nervous about the month before and dropping too much weight so my dress won't fit. Two summers ago it got so bad that I lost 17 pounds in a summer from it without trying. My doctor had me on a diet of candy bars and McDonald's to try to keep some nutrients in my body. That was when I was diagnosed with IBS. So I will definitely be part of your Tummy Support Group!

If I get a hangover, it usually comes through that way rather than throwing up, etc. so I suppose that has something to do with my stomach. And, I have never been diagnosed but the past 4-5 years I'm finding my body rejects cheese and milk consistantly so yes, I guess I probably am. Sucks.

Me too! I think restaurants sometimes use spices or something that doesn't sit well with me. I am a little worried about feeling well on the HM too, we are going to an all inclusive and it would be awful to feel sick all week! FH has an iron stomach so he tries to understand, but I know he doesn't really....

I have used lactaid milk. Drinking it alone is Gross but in cereal it is good! Lactaid also has an icecream called Lactaid Scoopfuls - chocolate chocolate chip. It is yummy!
