Do you have to have a guest book? I'm debating because reality is, when the heck are people going to actually sign it?

Re: Stupid Question But...
We didn't have a guest book. To us it was just another thing to collect that will sit in a drawer and never be looked at again .

I don't want a guest book, but I have seen other ideas I like to take it's place.

Re: Stupid Question But...
My photographer actually suggested that we make a picture guest book...with all photos of our engagement session! There are several llines to sign on besides the pictures. We really like this idea but might scratch it due to cost!
Either way we are having a guest book. I always see them at weddings and always sign. JMO!

Re: Stupid Question But...
u know how many people signed our guestbook???? ELEVEN....out of 230 people!!! lol there's no need for it. I did have a poloroid book in the reception room that's really cute to look back on...a bunch of guests signed that & took pictures...u could do that if u wanted to do something a little different??? I've also seen a 'wish bowl'...where guests write on little slips of paper (advice & good wishes) & toss it in a big glass vase/bowl...That's cute too!

Re: Stupid Question But...
Nope....I didn't bother with one. God only knows what some of our guests would have put in there.

Re: Stupid Question But...
I had a guest book that was a semi-DIY. I purchased a journal from a bookstore and pasted in some photos of us. Only five or six pages out of hundreds are filled in. I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of time or money on it.

Re: Stupid Question But...
We're having one. It was very inexpensive on bridestuff.com, and if I end up getting a DOC, I'm asking her to try to direct people towards the book lol

Re: Stupid Question But...
we didn't get one - no one ever signs them, or only like 10% of your guests will.

Re: Stupid Question But...
Never any stupid questions, only stupid answers.
You don't have to do anything. I didn't do a guest book, just found it to be unncessary. It would usually be displayed on or near the escort card table so that the guests would see it. Not everyone takes the time to write something.
IMO, the cars from each of the guests is sufficient. Most people will personalize the cards and add their wishes in it.

I had a guest book. Paid $75 for it & another $40 for a fancy pen. You know how many people signed it....

Re: Stupid Question But...
There is no need for a guestbook. of the the guestbooks would just ask for our names. I've had friends that have done a wishing well, where people would write on cards and leave messages for the bride and groom.

Re: Stupid Question But...
I didn't want one, but my mom kept insisting that we 'needed' one. She went out and bought one along with some fancy pen. The thing had around 100 pages and only 10 pages were filled in. We had about 110 guests and way more than half signed it. Most just put their name down, but a few wrote messages that took up a whole page (some were pretty funny and not G rated). IMO this is what cards can be used for. I thought it was a waste.

Re: Stupid Question But...
We used the guest book to have the guests write their email addresses so that we can send them the link to all of our photos

Re: Stupid Question But...
I did it because I wanted to have a job to give to my young cousin, but it isn't something that is necessary...

Re: Stupid Question But...
i did a DIY sign in frame with a pic of our engagement announcement in it...bought it at Michaels for like $20...here's a pic half way thru...by the end of the night it was filled with messages and now hangs in our kitchen.
