Sunday evening wedding???

Sunday evening wedding???

So I opted for a Sunday evening wedding. I just started wondering if it would be difficult to get vendors for a Sunday night? Also does anyone know if there pricing is different. I read an article previously that mentioned vendors tend to me more negotiable on off nights or seasons. Is this true??? Are there any other Sunday brides out there??

We were very close to having our wedding on a Sunday night b/c the prices were SOO much better. We decided against it at the last minute b/c we were offered a great deal for a Sat night and b/c we have a lot of OOT guests. But, to answer your question, you'll get great prices if you do it on a Sun night. The venues we looked at were a good bit cheaper for Sundays. Good luck!

I also set the time for 6:30 ceremony and 7-8 CH and 8-12 Reception.... Now I am worried that is too late.... The other option is 4:30pm. Should I have gone for that???? We do have out of town guests but they were planning to take a day off anyway (so it will be monday). My main concern is that my local older guests will start to leave early since they wont want to take a day off if they dont have to. The wedding is next summer.

It's entirely up to you. I mean, the older guests tend to leave early regardless. However, if your RH is flexible, you can move the ceremony up to 4:30. That might be nice as your local guests can be in bed by 11. Was there a specific reason you wanted the ceremony to start at 6:30? that still might be nice b/c the sun will set during cocktail hour which allows for great pictures. Sorry, I think I may have just confused you more...

RH prices are generally lower for Sunday nights and Friday, although Sunday is the cheapest. Vendors are usually the same price, its just depends on what you want, for example flowers wont be cheaper because its on a Sunday. The depend on high or low cps

my wedding is a sunday night CH starts at 6:30 no problem booking vendors, and no big price breaks, it was cheaper than a sat night

Re: Sunday evening wedding???

Well the reason why I chose later is because #1 I have guests that may be arriving from OOT on Sunday so I wanted to give them plenty of time to get in check in etc. I also wanted a evening/night wedding as its by the water and in the summer sun does not set till 9:30. So it would be light the whole time if I took the 4:30 because that ends at 10pm. Also I didnt want it to end at 10pm b/c its so anticlimactic. its over so early and then theres like nothing to do.

But now I am paniking thinking all of these guests will take off early and it will be dead for the last 2 hours

I really wouldn't worry about guests leaving early. I've been to tons of Sunday night weddings and I've never left early. I do think the later time is the better choice considering the sunset and the water. Don't worry about it! Plus, your OOT guests will have the next day off and will want to party all night!

I'm doing it late Sunday afternoon and plan to end at 8pm.

I think the trick is to end it early on a high note, than to let everyone linger that last hour or so.

you can get better pricing for a Sunday evening wedding... try asking your RH if they do twilight, which means, if another wedding party doesn't book the location for the afternoon, if you can move your wedding time to 3pm and have it start and end earlier, therefore your quests would have the full 6 hours to enjoy your night with you, since most people might leave early for a Sunday night wedding

Mine is also a sunday, cocktail hour at 5, reception 6-10. The price was slightly better for the hall, but not a tremendous difference. I don't think there was any price difference for all other vendors...

I am afraid people will leave my reception early to head home as well... a lot of my guests are from queens and my reception is off exit 64 so I'm getting a lot of complaints that its 'so far east' on a work night.

I'm hoping for the best and whoever wants to be there for me will be there, that's my theory Anyone who leaves early, would probably leave early regardless what time your reception is..

Did your invites already go out?

I would go for the earlier time. On a Sunday evening, people are likely to leave early. Especially those with kids.

Im having a sunday wedding, eventhough first I had booked for a saturday wedding. I changed my mind because sunday was 50 dollars less per person so, i got a pretty big price break on the RH. Also I thought that since it was a sunday, I should make sure that the next day would be some sort of holiday so people wouldnt complain about them having to go to work the next day, so im having my wedding on labor day weekend.

No its next summer so I am just booking now. I am just torn I want the later time... but I dont want tons of people to leave. I have already booked the 6:30 but may be able to change it if someone else has not booked the 4.30 slot.... just not sure if I want to do that.

I am in the same boat as you and I have worried about this as well. My reception doesn't end until 1230. It definitely worries me that people will start leaving before our viennese hour even starts...but like many people said...those that want to be there, will be there. I know, it hurts to picture you, your husband, and your immediate family twiddling their thumbs with 1-2 hours of your reception stil left, but it will work out.
My friend had his wedding on a Sunday night a few years ago...I had so much fun that I stayed till the end (probably around midnight) AND I went to work the next day! Just make sure you show your guests a good time...and they won't leave early! =)

I am a Sunday wedding as well. I opted for a 5:00 ceremony, 6:00 CH and 7 - 11 Reception. I thought that was a good time to end, not too early, not too late. I am a teacher as is most my friends and family so I chose to do it when school was out.

My band came down $4,000 because it was on a Sunday so there definitely is room to negotiation with some vendors.
