Super Stressed

Super Stressed

have noticed that pretty much all 2010 brides have booked their RH's already and some 2011!!
I'm super stressed out because my FH and I cannot even look at them let alone book ours until he gets here in the end of June!
I'm afraid they are all going to be taken!!

So far I called:

The Snapper Inn - spoke with Laurie who said that she can make an appointment to see us however there was a couple coming in looking to book a RH that same day before we are able to see her

The Carltun (Palm Court) - Caryn said that it is a very busy time for them and they could book that day within the next few weeks - before we even get to see it

George Washington Manor - The Presidential room - which I don't know if his family will like b/c they are from Argentina and it might be a bit too 'Americana' for them...

Milleridge Inn -Carriage House - see above

Maritime College - where I went to school- but the caterer there did not get back to me after repeatedly contacting them and I don't know that they would be able to do a nice job...

Captain Bills - I'm worried about it being too far from Hewlett (where my church is) and in addition to being booked b/c it's so popular

I asked:
The Woodmere Country Club and they were already booked,
The Atlantic Beach Club and they only accept me if I have a sponsor
The Bridgeview Yacht Club - booked
Sans Souci - had a minimum of 125 we couldn't meet
Riverview Restaurant - booked

My FH doesn't understand that places book up a year and a half to two years in advance. He thinks that this can get done in three months!!
Ugh!

Thanks for letting me vent!!

You shouldn't stress at all, you still have plenty of time.
Some ppl book their hall with in a few months...dont stress

Don't stress! So many people are having longer engagements now, especially because of the costs and savings involved with a wedding. You will still find a hall that you love!

I think you should check out the Floral Terrace!

I understand. I get stressed all the time when I see how much people have done already for there wedding and I have ton of things more to do. But my friend booked her venue 6 months before her wedding date - someone cancelled and they got a good deal. Also, I booked mine 11 months before my wedding date.

Would your FH mind if you looked at some of these places without him? Does he trust your judgement and taste? Maybe you can go w/ a close family member?

And if he wants you to wait for him... keep this in mind.. i was engaged in May of 08.. DH tore his patella tendon right after that and couldn't walk around for a couple of months..we didn't start looking at halls until July.. and we booked our hall in August '08 -- the wedding was in march '09 .. so we booked our hall & planned everything within 8 months..so it CAN be done!!

Maybe you can start looking at a few places with a friend or family member and narrow down your list. I would not stress over the date- Fh and I were set on the Sunday before labor day and we went 16 months in advance to book the date and it was already booked for the next two years. We changed our date, got a good pp price and the RH threw in a few extras. Relax some how everything works out.

Thanks girls!

I went with my Mom this past weekend to look at a bunch of places:
Milleridge Inn
The Fisherie - way too small
Bedells @ West Wind - closed down and Creeeeppy
The Carltun
The Hewlett Fire House -( I couldn't look at the room which was supposedly refurbished and very nice according to a friend of my mothers)
Mirelles (super creepy and the carpets were dirty)

He trusts my judgment however he would like to be involved due to the fact that we are incorporating a few Argentine traditions to the ceremony and reception.

I think you should check out the Water's Edge in Long Island City (I think . . . ). I believe it is a smaller venue, FH and I checked it out back in November and are still getting calls from the bm there about availability for June 2010. I've heard the food is good! Don't stress out. . . you have more than a year.

Re: Super Stressed

what are you looking for?
what month/date?
day of the week?
PRICE????????
location?
Capacity?

I mean.. I went to 17 halls and contacted an additional 25+... so if you need any help getting ideas on places I'd love to help!

Thanks!!

Our wedding is on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 11am so we were looking to start the reception around 1pm for about 80 people (maybe less) and are looking to spend not more than $90pp.... We are getting married at the chuch I grew up going to and we can't change the date b/c that would set us back another month + (have to schedule it around the World Cup - no joke - and I can't forsee us being another month apart - it's too depressing)

Re: Super Stressed

Don't worry about them all being taken! I was originally a 2010 bride when I got engaged this past February and we were shocked to see that everywhere had openings still which is how I ended up as a 2009 bride!

Re: Super Stressed

Keep calm, I booked my RH approx. 6 mos. before the wedding date. So far i have pretty much of my vendors book. My suggestion is to work on finding your dress in advance as it could take some time to find the right one and then to actually order and get it in. I ordered my dress pretty much after i got engaged even though we had not booked the RH yet and i already have it. You have plenty of time.

Hmmm why don't you check out Sunset Harbour, Majestic Gardens, Larkfield Manor, Coral House, Swan Club...

Don't worry! I worked in RH sales--they always say someone else was looking at the same day. They want a sale as quick as possible.

But don't stress...there's lots of factors that can rule out any number of the halls on your list. I think its rare that a hall would be COMPLETELY booked a year or 2 in advance. As long as youur flexible, you should have no problem. I only booked my 9-18-2010 in March.

You have plenty of time!
