Please don't go tanning! Besides the whole cancer thing.... I work with a girl who tans once a week and even though she is 8 years younger she has more wrinkles than me!
I use Neutrogena build a tan. I can see a difference after a few days. I use it at night because I don't want the smell to stick with me all day, but it has never rubbed off on clothes. A bottle costs like $10 and it lasts for ages.
Thats why im so hesistant! I have no idea what to do. Im clueless. I have a friend who tans but shes like orange!
yeah but it's not like you're going on a regular basis right - you're doing this to have some color for the wedding?
Nothing is bad for you unless you abuse it, IMO.
Any burn, even if just once, really ups your chances of skin cancer. I once even had to get a mole removed and I am very religious about putting on sunscreen.

Re: Tanning help!
I never lay i always go in the stand up i feel when i lay my butt always gets burnt and i never burn
ALso i just go in with my thong on..no bra...the stand up is more roomy so if you have a tight space fear its better.
i went tanning in october for a wedding and i just went tanning twice last week and my tan came right back..its great...i plan on going either once a week or every other week until the wedding

Re: Tanning help!
Go in stand up for sure and at Hollywood Tans you only go for like 7-10 minutes.
Start off going for like 6 minutes, twice a week and work your way up to 10.

Re: Tanning help!
spray tan! They're is a place in great neck that a few girls on the website have recommended, I think the name of it is brazil bronze. It's a little pricey but I think being that it is a non-cancerous way of tanning, it's worth it!

i never got red or orange. If you use the higher beds they are bronzers, its the lower beds that make you red. FH tans, he'll kill me for saying that and in all the pics you'll see that he is never orange or red

ok so this is a really dumb question I have NEVER gone tanning.....
so i wear a bikini and go onto a tanning bed and shut the door ..... is it a small tight space?
I usually just wear bottoms, and go topless. You dont want tan lines with your dress. Get a package at the tanning salon, and try going maybe 2x/week for 10 mins up until your wedding day. I think that would look the most natural. If you get a DIY spray tanner, it may streak. Also, try Sunplicity tanning in lindenhurst, Ive used them for airbrush tanning several times, and it looks great. FM me for pics.

Re: Tanning help!
My friends sister has the spray machine and will go to your house if you're in Suffolk county. I tried it once and it was great, aso very low priced. FM me if you want her info.
I am still debating what to do....I can't do the tanning salon had a mole removed last summer...but i WANT to. It's one day out of my life, granted it's going to be an amazing day, but it's still one day and not worth getting skin cancer or wrinkles for! I guess I'll see. I want to try to bronze place also...why do we feel like if we're paying more $, the service might be better? LOL

Re: Tanning help!
your skin type sounds the same as mine.... normally I dont like to tan becuase I use to be the tanning queen but anyway long story short you can do a higher bed like denise mentioned that will give you great color..... they even offer stand up's where you don't have to lay down my tan normally comes out more even (especially under the armpits) and the last minute or so I walk around I get figgity also

Re: Tanning help!
I used to be a tanorexic ! Seriously addicted to tanning beds, never thinking i was tan enough , now when i look at pictures I am like damm why didnt someone stop me and tell me to lay off the bronzer
I woudn't reccomend tanning beds if you never used them before, they are SO bad for you! I am fighting the urge to join a tanning salon again this summer for the wedding becuase I KNOW how bad it is , but its an addiction
You might want to go to brazilian bronze in Great Neck. it is the best spray tan and it will not come off on your dress if you sweat.
honestly i would just reg tan- Holywood is really the best...its stand up- more sanitary

One more thing....DO not get the tan-in-a-bottle. If you have never done it before u can get orange patches all over. Not safe!

i ' recovered' for a few years and didn't use beds at all , last year i was in florida for a month and got really dark so i wanted to maintain the color and went back. I was going to sign up for the monthly 2 weeks ago but I am fighting it as hard as i can for as long as i can! I have a wedding next week i think i am going to spray .
i need tanning rehab, i am scared im going to ruin my skin or even worse get cancer! nothing worse then pale legs in the summer , ill wear jeans then look pasty haha ( i am really fair, burn then tan )

VERY true , it is really hard to get the color even and it does turn you orange

Re: Tanning help!
I am the palest of the pale. I love the mystic tanning booth and use it often but my feet hands get very funky. A personalized air spray session is perfect and actually looks better than the real thing for me because when I tan in the sun, I get all red and my skin gets parched. I may buy a spray gun after the wedding when I have $ again.
I love Jergens glow....it is moisturizer with bronzer in it and it is AWESOME. Doesn't streak or anything. It rubs off a little on clothes but it comes out in the wash.

Re: Tanning help!
okay former tanorexic here
i looked at your pictures and i think we have the same skin color. i meant to go tanning before the wedding but then was unable to due to skin problems on my back
I was so upset bc i felt like i was SOOOO pale but when i look at my pictures I think my skin looks awesome next to the white dress AND i also mentioned to Oksana that I wanted to be a little tan so she used a little bronzer on me. . . .that is what i suggest
if you DO want to tan still just go tanning, i feel sometimes the fake tan doesnt look as good on someone with olive skin. . . i would only use it to go from pale to olive. . . if that makes sense
i agree with a PP, i would go twice a week for ten minutes and just tan naked
eta: if you do decide to go tanning use cocoa butter! i have been using this since my HM and i am STILL tan, its amazing!

I like the jergens one that does it very subtle and builds over a few days. Def try some out now, so if you dont like them, it will fade before your wedding.
