Tattoos

anyone get a tattoo after the wedding? like couples tattoos? or names? or anything?

i know FH wants to get something for me it makes me nervous (im superstitious about it a little bit even though im not superstitious about anything else!) and then part of me thinks that its really hot.....

he likes wedding band tattoos - he says he would like my name tatooed on his finger OR my name maybe on his left wrist so that when he wears his watch its covered...

im flattered but i dont know if i would do the same for him! id love to get his initial but part of me is iffy about it....i dont know, what happens if something happens to me and then he has my name on his finger for life - i hate to be so depressing but i always think the worst when it comes to those kinds of tats

but anyway, i know some of us have done it - so just curious to see who has what or if anyone is planning on doing something

My step-father got my moms name on his chest by his heart. I dont believe in that but it was a beautiful gesture. Im also never getting a tattoo.

Re: Tattoos

if something happens you just cover it up people get tattoo's covered up all the time, not only for the name reason but sometimes you get a tattoo and years later you dont like it. So you get one done over it and you cant see the one underneath anymore.

i dont think that we would break up JUST bc of a tattoo, if we break up it would be bc of a serious issue that would've happened regardless of a tattoo. For example cheating, i dont think someone cheated bc they are jinxed by a tattoo. I know others feel differently and its fine. But i vowed to spend the rest of my life with him and share a life together, to me this is a much bigger deal than getting a tattoo. The way i see it is, if i can make this huge commitment and vow to spend the rest of my life with someone, then a tattoo isnt a bigger deal than this.

I do want to get another tattoo soon, but i already did the couple thing so probably gonna get something else

I'm getting a celtic symbol on my lower back and after the wedding I'm going to have our wedding date weaved into it. I keep trying to take FH into getting one too but he doesnt want to. I have 3 already... he thinks mine are cute, but has never wanted any.

I'm still working on his though

we were thinking about just getting tattoos after the wedding together as something to do together and to mark our beginning.

it would be tattoos we wanted anyway but just to go together after the wedding would have been nice.

i chickend out! it would be my 1st tat and i'm scared

that is what my FH says - he tells me, Nik, you know that everyone you know that got a name tattoo was in high school when they got it - so of course it didnt last and he is right, i dont know anyone who got their husband or wifes name - i just remember people in school doing it when they were like 17 the only other people you hear of are celebrities and so many of them break up regardless....so i think that the negative connotation i have has a lot to do with the types of people that i know that got them.....i do know 2 guys that are in their 50s who have their ex wives names tattooed on them, but they are both jerks....i dont know, i love victoria beckham's DB tattoo on her wrist, i wish i had balls to do that, i think its sexxxxay ......i also like the idea of getting a J behind my ear or by my panty line.....but i dont know.....part of me likes the idea and the other part isnt sure.....but you are right - you can cover it up - as a matter of fact i want to cover up the one i have on my lower back - not because i hate it, im just bored of it hahaha

yeah, please dont go by what 17 year olds did or couples who had issues even before the tats. Hey even if something were to happen i know it wouldnt be the tat that caused the break up lol. I know couples who got it and broke up, but then again the guy had cheated even before the tat so cant blame it on that.

yeah ive seen alot of ppl after a while hate the tattoo they have or get bored of it and then years later get something else done over it. ESPECIALLY if you get something small like an initial, it will be even easier to cover up.

I am not encouraging ppl to get it, do what you are comfortable with. ITs not for everybody, so really think about it first and make sure you want it. But dont let the reason of a superstiation stop you, if you dont like tat's and reasons like that then its different

what color did she do? was it the regular black ink? you can still cover it up but only thing is that she can have the tattoo a bit bigger than the one she currently has. But depending on the design they can go over it, it would have to be bright colors and or more than 1 color to help with doing so and depending on the design too. Flowers actually are an easy way to cover it up, especially if you do a bright colored one.

I think they can technically 'cover it' but it represents marriage on that finger so whatever is there, it looks like an engagement ring you know what I mean??

oh duh, realized what you meant now, i thought you meant the actual covering up part. But yeah true, no matter what design is on there others will think its representing marriage lol. She would have to do a tat on other fingers to have ppl not think that and well she probably wouldnt want that

I have one small tatoo(a quarter will cover it) of a crescent moon. I am eventually going to add his initials to it.

We have talked about it and decided he would have our children's (god willing) names tattooed on him instead.

This could change but right now we think that is a better idea.
