Re: Tattoos
I've always said I'd never get someone else's name except my kids, or a memorial. I think I might be convinced to get an anniversary tattoo though. You know, 19 years from now. Maybe. There will be others in the meantime. I have spring and autumn, I need summer and winter.
DH has all kinds of ideas, but no ink. It's for the best, really. First he wanted some kind of cross that wrapped like an arm band and maybe had an eagle and the flag. Like, all in one design. Then he wanted a life-size Declaration of Independence. He's starting to realize that the whole tattoo thing.....it's not really for him.

I got one. It's our wedding date with the Kanji in the middle (Japanese love symbol) looking at it you wouldnt really know what it is. I love it.

Re: Tattoos
i, personally, just don't like the idea of having another person's name 'branded' onto my body. It makes me feel as though we're saying that I'm his property or something (even tho people don't do it with that intent, obviously). So likewise, I really didn't want FH putting my name on him either. He doesn't 'belong' to me. It's a 50-50 deal with us.
I did however like his idea of tattooing a wedding band on his left ring finger. I figure that it makes the ring permanent, but is easily covered by the real thing. I'm thinking of doing it with him. Maybe getting the date inscripted (rather than names, of course). That'll help him NOT FORGET our anniversary maybe!!!! haha

Re: Tattoos
I would probably get a matching tattoo! No names or anything, maybe something to represent our relationship.
I actually have a tramp stamp too But I'm not crazy about it being called that because it's actually of my moms astrological sign. I got it right after she passed away a few years ago, it's super special to me and it sounds funny when people refer to it that way
I love tattoos though and I definitely want more! I was thinking about putting something on my foot somehwere! It'll be easy to hide and to show when I want...just don't know what i'd get yet!

09'er crashin in. I have 7 tattoos and I'm absolutely dying for another one. I told DH that after the wedding I'm getting another one. On my left wrist I have the symbol for infinity. I was thinking about putting our wedding date in roman numerals underneath it. Or just putting the roman numerals on my other wrist. Not sure yet, but either way that is definately what the tat is going to be.

No i would actually do it with that intent. I do think I belong to him. Actually I sign every letter and card 'Yours forever' There is something very intimate about that sense of . . .almost ownership. . i like it.
I wouldnt let him LITERALLY brand me though, that would hurt and make me feel like a cow!

me too. I'm kinda toying with the idea of putting a small one on my foot. I'm a teacher, so it definitely needs to be covered. If i DO get one, it'll def be on the Maori Symbol which represents 2 lives being intertwined, so much that it would be a long and painful process to ever break apart.
this is one example of what it basically looks like:

i dont know, i never looked at it that way as in this person belongs to you hahaha. I can see how some might look at it that way. I see it more as my heart belongs to this person
Dh mentioned the band around his finger but Lea made a real good point so now im not too sure anymore. A tattoo can easily be covered up but if god forbid anything does happen, if its on your ring finger it symbolizes marriage and even if you cover it up with something else on that finger everyone will still know, this changed everything

i agree, i think its HOT, i am his, he is mine, we are eachothers....i understand what you mean about it being intimate, its kind of sexy and romantic but totally not in the cow branding way!

LOL thanks for understanding, I was hoping that I exlpained it correctly without making it sound like he ties me up in the basement every night.

Thank you I tried to fix the picture so it can look a little clearer. I came up with the design myself, i love roman numerals so i wanted something with our wedding but that your average person looking at it wouldnt know necessarily what it was.
