Just because you're from queens does not mean you're ghetto. I know somebody who always makes comments like OH NO i dont go into queens, and once about if she had to take the train it would have to be close by to where she was going and not walk too much, yes bc you will get robbed or shot once you step foot into queens...Its not all urban, we do have residential areas and is very suburban like.

My step-brother is from Plainview and everytime he comes to my moms house in FOREST HILLS, he cant stop saying how ghetto it is. I crack up at him and tell him Im gonna drop him off in Brownsville Brooklyn and then he could tell me what ghetto is. I hate when people misuse the word 'ghetto' I know what real 'ghetto' is.

LOL forest hills is ghetto? Tell that to those living in their multi million dollar homes lol well obviously not all of forest hills is like that but even the parts that aren't still are not bad hahaha

My parents live on Yellowstone by 108th street and they have a condo on the 29th floor of a beautiful building and he has the nerve to say that. Funny thing is he's Jewish and where my parents live is an all Jewish beautiful neighborhood so I dont get where the ghetto comes in. He says the brick buildings are ghetto. I just laugh.

that is great though don't be embarassed...but also make sure from time to time to enjoy the money you make and treat yourself too...now bc of the wedding its hard but especially when you two will be newlyweds. And pamper yourself once in a blue moon, you work hard, save, so you deserve it

yeah when it comes to the boroughs and well just about any place, you have the good and the bad. I mean look at brooklyn now, you have williamsburg and parkslope and other areas that are just as expensive as the city and becoming just as 'trendy' and i know ppl who live in the bronx in great neighborhoods with beautiful homes

Queens is a very good place to live, who said bec you live in Queens you are ghetto?? I don think so. On the news every evening, I hear bad news about the same 2 boroughs, Im not going to name but they start with a B, its hardly about Queens.

Okay....the reason of this thread is to stop stereotypes no reinforce them. You said the bad boroughs start with a B... I just got finished saying that the I hate when people do this. I live in the Bronx... a very nice part I may add...my parents Coop cost as much as many peoples houses in LI and Qeens and if you really look into the numbers Queens is not really that much better than the Bronx.

This is the truth. The Bronx has some nice areas but I'm not so familiar. I DO know about Brooklyn and many know of my unnatural connection w/ the place. Bklyn abounds w/ cultural and historical areas not to mention there ARE safe and attractive areas that people are moving out of the city into.

... I do question why you edited your post MPAS to not reflect your original statement. If you felt that way then that's your opinion. just b/c we don't agree doesn't mean you can't leave it?!

Re: Amish funerals. The deceased are laid in very plain 'Little House' type wooden coffins. The services are held in the home. Whereas the Amish are clothed in black and a few other dark colors during their lives, when they are buried, they are completely attired in white. Even though my Husband is not Amish anymore, he told me he wants to be buried in a white suit. I have put three pics in my album of my Husband when he was Amish, if you care to look. Mary MOB

oh and not all Jamaicans

1. have multiple jobs ( I proudly have one, although it is enough for three people lol)

2. smoke ganga/weed/pot/maryjane etc -My father and mother have NEVER tried it...they'd tell me they were hippies

3. people w/ 'locs' (dreads)- use the above herb. I don't and yes its because of choice.

4. are part of the Jamaican 'Posse'

5. Say 'mon' after everything, or 'booyakah'

It really is, Jessica!! Since the Amish don't like to be photographed, our children will never see my Husband's Mother, as she passed away when Debi was 4 months old. While I don't have pictures of my Husband's family, I'm so glad the Amish keep excellent family records. We have a hardcover addition of the Fisher Family History, my Husband's Mother having been a Fisher. We can trace both family lines of my Husband back many generations in this book; And the great thing about this book, is it's updated, so, Debi and Fred will go into it when they're married. its crazy bc my friend's family has lived in williamsburg, brooklyn for about 30 years and you can imagine what they paid back then...her family owns a construction company so they made it into a 3 floor home. I remember going years ago to pick her up or drop her off and its different than it is now, it wasn't bad but definitely not as built up, you just had alot of factories which are mostly lofts now and not all the restaurants and bars you have now. But now its funny bc she tells me that she CONSTANTLY has people knocking on her door asking if her family wants to sell her house and they offer insane amounts of money, her mom sometimes is like 'maybe we should take it' but her dad won't lol, but still funny that theres no for sale sign but ppl just constantly are knocking on their door...her grandmother also has a house on that block, so maybe they should move her in and sell that. But she tells me what they offer and its crazy

Not all Puerto Ricans steal silverware. We do steal a lot of those hotel condiments and hotel towels though...

my grandmother is the queen of stealing hotel towels and robes lol especially from AC... I wont lie though I stole cute bottles of Disney shampoo and soap from the Disney resort we stayed at
