When is your 100th day of school. My mom and I work in the same district, different elementary schools, and her school celebrated the 100th day today, but my school is doing it tomorrow?

Re: TEACHERS
My school does not do a '100 Day' celebration. I don't understand why it is necessary.

Re: TEACHERS
At the school I work at Kindergarten and first grade are celebrating it on Tuesday (we had a professional day and a snow day so we're probably a little behind). The primary grades use it to reinforce counting skills, tens and ones, things like that.

Re: TEACHERS
Ours is also on Thursday. Our principal is really into celebrations like this. We do lots of multiplication with 100 and other word problems involving 100. I also have the kids write what they would do if they found 100 dollars on the sidewalk. This year I may have them make a list of 100 books they like.

Re: TEACHERS
The city started later so ours is Thursday. We have the kids decorate t-shirts with a 100 things (stickers ect.). All of the 1st grade then does a parade to show off the 100 shirts and we do little silly stuff in the class. They are also asked to bring a snack with a 100 of something like cereal.

Re: TEACHERS
Mine was in January, I am in MD and we started school in August! I was fun, we spent all year counting up to 100, and the kids kept asking me if they were going to have off from school, And I kept saying, NO! because if you didn't have school, then it would be the 100th day! LOL

I teach special-education, I know and teach about one gazillion ways to count to any number. You'd be surprised the things I've had to do to teach them to count up to 10. I can't even imagine 100. IT is a very hard concept for the kids I work with.
YAY TEACHERS!

Dh is a teacher in NYC and his is this Thursday. We spent last weeknd getting snack foods that have 100 in it and they count it, we got cheez it's, cookies, pretzels, etc. He dresses as an old man and his assistant dresses like a old lady of 100 years old. He also has a paper clip necklace that is made of 100 paper clips etc.
