I am VERY interested in getting a teacup Yorkie puppy in the near future. I was wondering if anyone could share info about them with me. I've never had one and am wondering what they are like.
Also, can anyone recommend a breeder or a place to look at to find a good one?
TIA

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
I got mine from Rossevelt field mall and I found out afterwards that wasnt a good place because the isolate each dog and now after 2 years my Yorkie is still scared of most dogs.... Check out Shake-a-paw in Lynbrook
P.S.- She is the greatest, sweetest, most loving dog. Anyone who didnt really like dogs, fall in love with her... she is the best, worth every penny

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
don't go to shake a paw they sold me a sick dog it cost us over 2000.00 to finally get her ok--we almost had to put her to sleep!!!!-the only thing they would do for me was give me credit for the price of the dog and it could only be used on another dog!!!!! which is my ihave a shi-zu now too!!!! i love my dogs but wish i would have went to a breeder.

Petite Pets in Huntington behind the Walt Whitman Mall, on New York Ave....the owner isn't the nicest but she has perfect dogs and when she tells you they will be 4 lbs they will be 4 lbs...a lot of places like shake-a- paw K-9 corral and other pet stores just look to sell you what you want not actually what they are....HTH
p.s If you go tell her Meg M sent you!!
p.s she gets all her dogs from great breaders, she only has 2 breader she will use

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
I bought my yorkie (toy not teacup) from Worldwide puppies and kittens. this is my first dog so i was really nervous but he is suchhhh a great dog, hes really smart, really friendly and loving, and really playful but not too hyper. if you are considering worldwide puppies and kittens, my yorkie did come home with worms, but the medicine was covered by the store because clearly that is where he picked it up, but the medicine cleared it up right away and he was fine.
because he is a toy he is 7lbs, i think teacups only get to be about 4.
good luck!!!

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
its just a regular yorkie, FH neighbor has them they are about 9 lbs .... I guess they could be toy but they are also just standard in the breed, teacup are basically the runts of the litter or bread from to very small parents.

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
if you want a reputable breeder try the akc website, they list them by breed and all their breeders have litters that qualify to be registered by the akc, which has very high standards.

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
Thanks ladies. I just read that there aren't any such things as 'Teacup' or 'Toy' Yorkies......that is a 'Hollywood' name given to them to get people to buy them. These 'fake' breeds are just the runts of the litter who will have major health issues.
Is this what you have read as well?

yes i was going to say that but I didn't want to offend you. If you speak to any reputable breeder they will tell you that there is no such thing as teacup yorkies. They are normally runts of the litter that were bred to make a smaller dog and also are more prone to health issues.

Re: Teacup Yorkie questions
they wont have major health issues if you go to a reputable place. Its like it two people who are 5'4' and 5'0 have a baby it will be smaller than someone who is 6' and 5'6 having a baby...

I am sorry but i have to disagree, NO BREEDER would ever sell their puppies to a petstore Its called a puppymill and conditions are terrible.
