Is anyone getting their teeth whitened before the wedding? Not just whitestrips whitened, but professionally at the dentist.
I was mulling it over because lately I've noticed in pictures that my front right tooth is fairly noticeably darker than the others. I'm not a smoker, but I have taken a lot of antibiotics, and I'm a daily coffee drinker. I have an underbite, so I think this one tooth is just more submerged in the coffee as I'm sipping than all the rest!
So I went to my dentist today for a regular cleaning, and found out some details. It's $700, and it's pretty hardcore. You have to prep with a special toothpaste for the week leading up to it, then it's 3 15 minute intervals with the peroxide gel and light, then they take a mold of your teeth for a tray that you'll need to use basically the rest of your life for touch up whitening at home, and you can't eat anything with color for 3 days!
My dentist basically told me that my teeth were on the whitest end of the spectrum, and that he couldn't recommend I do it or not because it's cosmetic, and that wouldn't be the right thing to do. This is coming from the man who when I was 14 years old brought in an oral surgeon special to tell me that I was the prime candidate for plastic surgery. He said it was a matter of how 'vain' I am! His other point was that even if I get them whitened, they'll all whiten the same amount of sahdes lighter, so the one darker tooth will still be darker than the rest, just a brighter shade of dark.
So I really don't know if this is worth 700 bucks. On the one hand, white strips have worked fine in the past, and I'm cheap, and that's 700 more to use for other things. But then I just spent so much money on photography, and I'm not super photogenic to begin with, so I don't want to 'ruin' my pictures that I just paid so much for.
What do you all think? To whiten or not to whiten? Is anyone else having the same dilemma?

Re: Teeth Whitening
if your are pretty white to begin with, that $700 is a waste IMO... i really think its only good for those like myself and FH who smoked for years and have definite noticeable yellowing from it. And even with that, we wouldnt spend that much... we're just gonna try the store stuff before the wedding and hope its a success

Re: Teeth Whitening
My dad's friend (his best man 32 years ago) is a dentist and I had my teeth whitened last year. He told me there are two types of mouths. The ones that get a lot of tarter and the ones that get cavities. I am the tarter type... never had a cavity. So I did it before my friends wedding and it looked fabulous, but its less then a year later and they already need it again. I will do it for the wedding.
But then Crest White Strips make my teeth hurt.

Re: Teeth Whitening
I am going to whiten, but I'm going to try the Crest Whitestrips first b/c I've heard they give awesome results. If that doesn't work then I'm going to go done the professional route.

I am going to try those new aquafresh white trays. IMO $700 is just too much for me while paying for a wedding. I am making FH do it too. I don't want his teeth looking yellow comapred to my super white dress!!! LOL We are starting it together daily till the wedding next week.

Re: Teeth Whitening
we do zoom in my office and had a patient come in to do zoom a week before her wedding and she got some allergic reaction the the gel or light and her lips were very swollen so i def suggest if you're going to do it do it like a month before
also start using sensodyne like 2 weeks before so you're not in pain

Re: Teeth Whitening
I really want to whiten my teeth but haven't started exploring the options yet. Has anyone seen the middle of the mall stands that do it now? I don't think I would trust them but it is a bit tempting since I'm sure it's much cheaper.

These work great!!! Your teeth can get a little sensative while doing it, but my dentist put me onto them. I was going to do it in his office but he told me it would be a waste of $$ - my teeth are on the fairly white side. He told me they work just as well as the professional ones.

Re: Teeth Whitening
I did the rembrandt whitening right before my E-party anf it really worked! It took a total of 2 hours and I think it was about $35.00.

Re: Teeth Whitening
I've done Brite Smile in the past...great results. They charge around $400-$500. I'm not getting it done bc my teeth are still pretty white, but I'm getting that as a gift for FH so he can show off those pearly whites. $700 seems a bit too much for teeth whitening...try going somewhere else if you REALLY want to do it.

Re: Teeth Whitening
I would save the money too. i had great results with Crest Whitestrips and one of my coworkers had hers done professionaly and they really were not that white. Also my friends mother lliterally ran out of the office, bc it hurt her teeth so much and she never completed her treatment, but still paid. I have sensitive teeth and I would not want to go through that.

Re: Teeth Whitening
I would do either Crest Whitestrips (used myself... work great but can make teeth a little sensitive) or any other at-home DIY. No reason to spend $$$ at the dentist.

Re: Teeth Whitening
I would just use over the counter stuff -- maybe you can get the gel that you paint on and just put it on your darker tooth?
