tell me why you love your bank

Original post by MrsSoto

i absolutely hate my bank. td! once it changed from commerce, its gone way down hill, imo and i cant stand it.

im thinking of changing to chase but i want the scoop on chase and any others out there that you think are worth checking out

my main thing is, are there any banks out there that have a no minimum checking out with no fees???

Re: tell me why you love your bank

ive never had a problem with bank of america. they are opening one right by me so i can stop trying to be creative with taking out cash at supermarkets.

they've also waived those overdraft fees that they're not supposed to impose in the first place. b@stards. but i'd recommend them.

I use Bank of America. I haven't had any problems with them although I probably won't stay with them in the long run. It's just convenient for me right because I have direct deposit set up and there's a branch within walking distance from home.

I also use ING Direct - it's where we have our joint saving account for the wedding. They can offer much better interest rates because they're on-line - there are no physical branch locations. But it works the same way as other banks if you do most of your banking on-line, which I do. I also have a checking and debit card with them, which I actually never used (BOA is my primary) but have in case of an emergency and I need to access those funds quickly. If you look at the map, most of the ATMs located at 7-11s or other convenient store kinda places are in the ING network so there is no fee.

I have a personal chkg and our joint chkg with Chase and I love them - they have branches/ATMs EVERYWHERE (in Duane Reades, etc.) and I don't get charged fees b/c I do direct deposit.

I hate going in there and talking to tellers, etc. and they have great ATMs where you can deposit w/o an envelope. I do everything online and it's very, very convenient. I've never had any issues whatsoever with holding paychecks and not knowing balances. Also I can get updates on my phone when things clear (which isn't often b/c I hardly ever deposit checks - I usually write them!).

I also have an ING savings, which is great b/c of the interest rate but ***** b/c if you call money back it takes a few days.

Chase b/c they're everywhere including Duane Reade's.

I also have ING (savings and CD's) that has good rates and fortunately their greats were awesome last year when I locked into some CD's.

Re: tell me why you love your bank

i LOVE LOVE LOVE TD... but only our SAVINGS account. (I guess because my friend works there and its easy for me to go in and take money from the account)
we haven't had a problem with them... that we've noticed at least.

I have bank of america for my checking.. and I HATE THEM!!!! I've had them for 7 years and they treat me like cr-ap! the manager at my branch used to ask me to leave... just because I decided I wanted to stand rather then sit while waiting to speak to someone. she has since been transferred, but the people there that took over are no better. They call me sneaky telling me I go over on my account then lie to them about it.. MEANWHILE it was THEIR fault I went over and I had documented proof!
then the other branches around... lets see, the Deer Park branch- the atm literally EATS my card when I make a deposit, they are always busy and I don't trust their parking lot. The one in islip (close to my job)... um ONE person in there speaks English... I found that out on Friday (there are two but they rotate shifts). then every other branch is pretty far for me.

I tried to open a TFCU account, but was told I or someone in my family had to be a teacher (um... I thought they changed that, considering it says on tv that you dont have to be) when FH and I were going to open a savings account we went to chase, they said we both needed checking accounts... he already had one, they said he didn't... meanwhile he had his card in his pocket, then they said it was because he originally had wamu and they are still merging. yea, I don't trust that. um. i had citibank- i didn't like the fact that I was told no hidden fees... I never used the account then suddenly I get a collection letter from them for $14.00... $7.00 for each month (2 months obv) that was a 'maintenance fee'... *** are you maintaining? there was a $0.00 BALANCE!?

so yea... I think I might go fully over to TD.. once this 'merge' is complete.

I love my bank because they haven't lost my bank account. Sound weird? I once had an account at a bank that moved across the street and somehow lost all records of my account. That was not a fun week.

Now, I <3 Chase.

I use TD bank only for my savings account.

Otherwise I use Citibank. No problems with them ever. They are very helpful with questions in branches and over the phone.

I originally picked them because they have ATMs in all the 7-11s and I used to go there all the time.

No complaints.

The key is to make friends with someone in the branch. I use Bank of America...its really convinent for me, one at my job, one at fh's and one literally 2 seconds from the house.

Anyway, I got friendly with the manager at the one at my job. Everytime I f-up my account he reverses all the charges, seriously this guy has saved me HUNDREDS (i tend to mess up every few months) Anyway, they also treat me so nice there. But my mom had an account there and hated it. So I think it all depends on the customer service at the branch you open the account with.

I have Citibank. Its ok, I like that I can do everything online with them.

I get free checking but now on my last statement they included something about how I will have to pay a fee if I my balance drops to less than $1500 or something like that. I have to check.
I also have ING and Discover online savings accounts.

yea I had TWO 'friends' one that was there for decades and the other who was a friend of a friend of mine... once the two of them left... thats when the problems started.

make sure you become friends with 'everyone'.
