Re: TError ALert on High now!
I have to tell you, I have a big problem with these alert levels. I don't think they mean a damn thing. And to go further....if they can pick up on chatter, then don't you think terrorists know that by now? And who's to say that chatter talking about New York isn't really code for Los Angeles? I mean, I'm sure they talk in code and what not, but I just find it to be a little too good to be true that they can pick up on all of that stuff, yet still have not time frame. If there's no time frame, then why tell us now? I just don't think that we need to know the minutia of it all. If there's a threat, then the government and the city needs to take care of it. We can't do anything about it. What's a higher alert level going to do to the average New Yorker? I think we're all pretty aware and to plant seeds in people's minds can only cause stress over somethign we can't really do a damn thing about. Argh, sorry to vent here, but their 'specific' information didn't seem any more specific than anything else they've ever said.

Someone that I know asked me if I was going to work tomorrow. I said its just another day. I even told her that if I took off everytime there's a terroist alert, I wouldn't have a jo.

Dont stop living life..Whatever will be will be. Thats my belief. And honestly all we can do is pray that we or our family is affected when what happens does happen. Sorry to be crude but I agree that this is something that we cant do a dang thing about and perhaps if they stop doing this stupid terrot alert all the ime and only when there is an actual 'threat' people would stop panicking.

I think I might try looking for a new job outside of the city.
I just hope I can find one that pays as much and with full medical too.
I just don't need this kind of stress.

You're right but you know...I'm not ready to die or be injured just yet on account of a terrorist. And I think that I would just feel a hell of alot better if I got a job out of NYC.

Re: TError ALert on High now!
Maribelle....I totally understand. I did the same thing after Sep11th and even the black out reinforced that I made a good decision. Not fun being standed and having to walk over a bridge not once but twice and having a baby who is in a different boro.
My philosophy is this, terrorists are in this country..always have been. Terrorists are patient. Terrorists are not always the face that are portrayed on TV..Some are our own and the terror alert cannot stop them especially. There is no way of knowing when they will strike so just live and be thankful for each day we survive.

It is frightening. I don't want my husband to leave to go to work...he saw too much on 9/11.

People can be affected by terrorism anywhere...moving isn't a solution. If i moved, i still have family in NY who travel everyday to and from the city..If something happens to them..i would die! Having the terror alert on red, orange, purple doesn't change a thing for me or the way i choose to live my life. If it did then i would really be a victim of terrorism!

Re: TError ALert on High now!
no offense, but there are always people saying 'don't let it get to you, etc'......i personally feel nauseous every time i go into nyc for work. this is a big country and if i can find a job in NJ closer to my home that is not a terrorist target, that's what i am going to do! it's a feeling i really can't explain, i just know that i don't want to be there anymore. that's all.
