Terry Schiavo's parents

Original post by RedHead

Stopped the pursuit to have Terri's feeding tube put back in!

Finally this woman will be at peace...sad but yet comforting

“A conscious person would feel it [dehydration] just as you or I would. They will go into seizures. Their skin cracks, their tongue cracks, their lips crack. They may have nosebleeds because of the drying of the mucous membranes, and heaving and vomiting might ensue because of the drying out of the stomach lining. They feel the pangs of hunger and thirst. Imagine going one day without a glass of water! Death by dehydration takes ten to fourteen days. It is an extremely agonizing death.”

for a conscious person is the key there...although her body will go throuhg the stages she WILL NOT feel anything

and all the parts where you found people/doctors saying that she is reacting.....Those are misleading and false!

how do you know they are false?

you're not there

MYTH
Death by starvation and dehydration is painless.

REALITY
Florida law does not allow a dog to be subject to death by starvation, so why should Terri, a human being, be sentenced to such a death?

I

i am sorry but you are wrong in this...
because the part of her brain that registers pain was destroyed SHE WILL NOT feel pain..THAT IS FACT!

I had read somewhere that she has jerked free when doctors subjected her to pain. Do you have a source that states otherwise? I'm just curious.

Re: Terry Schiavo's parents

Many many many sources of information that i have been reading up on have said that it is possible she can feel pain. How do we know 100% sure that she is not suffering in some way?? One doctor may say no while another says yes.

I am a huge skeptic, believe me...I mean i know that this poor lady seems beyond recovery and she is severely brain damaged. But i have watched and seen too many things in life where people thought to be past the point of no return have come back. Even on TLC or discover (i forget which one) they had aired a program about the brains overwhelming capability to overcompensate for the damaged parts. People who were not supposed to walk due to damage on the part of the brain that controls mobility ended up being able to do just that.

The thing is...is that there is always hope. I am a firm believer in that, and as hopeless and awful as this whole case is, you just never know. NO ONE knows. Not doctors, her parents, etc. Its terribly sad.

Did Michael start dating this other woman 5 years into Terri's condition? Or is that just when then met....

WHO CARES BEDDA...this issue isn't about when they met, if they met, how they met
IT IS ABOUT TERRI!

What is your problem. You keep jumping down my throat. Listen if you don't like my comments or questions then stop replying to my posts....ok

terri

that says during ketosis they RARELY feel pain. There is no definite. I can quote three other articles that say she will feel pain. That doesn't tell me anything ABSOLUTE.

my thoughts exactly

they say rarely and likely

that's not definite

well if you want to talk about the DH's love life...you can talk about it on your own post?

THis is inconsequential to anything as far as Terri is concerned

She's not experiencing hunger — she's not experiencing anything,' Albin says.

Re: Terry Schiavo's parents

there are going to be a million things that say yes versus no..just like this thread is...

But..you cannot argue that you (not one person, you meaning anyone) know FOR SURE, 100% that what she is going through is peaceful, painless and right. Who knows?? I don't , her parents don't, her husband doesn't....

that is why cases like this are horrible...and unfair...and its all a matter of a majority outweighing a minority. I hope for her sake that she is completely unaware of what is happening to her

LOL exactly!
And he's in Michigan. He's not HER doctor.

Re: Terry Schiavo's parents

I can't believe that all of you are arguing over this. Terri Schiavo isn't the only person in the U.S. going through this. The only reason why we know about this case because the parents and the husband don't get along. So why doesn't anyone care about the others?
Lets face it she's never going to recover from this. She can't take care of herself. She will never have children. She will never be able to do anything. Now is this the kind of life you want to live? I know I don't. I have a living will stating if i am declared brain dead, on life support, on a feeding tube, and if there's nothing that can be done. That the plug be pulled. I am only thinking about Brianne, my son Connor, and my family . I think everyone should stop arguing about this. If they are not happy with whats going on. Get a living will so their wishes will be granted if they are ever in this situation. I'm sorry if I offended anybody, but this is how I feel.

'Grabs your hand when you hold his/hers, or withdraws from unpleasant feelings or sounds.'

isn't this the same as experiencing pain?
