Terry Schiavo's parents

Original post by RedHead

Stopped the pursuit to have Terri's feeding tube put back in!

Finally this woman will be at peace...sad but yet comforting

they say rarely and likely

that's not definite

She's not experiencing hunger — she's not experiencing anything,' Albin says.

when Albin can enter her body, then I'll believe him

And he's in Michigan. He's not HER doctor.

Re: Terry Schiavo's parents

Q: Do patients in persistent or permanent vegetative states experience pain or suffering?
A: No. The parts of the brain necessary for consciousness, that feel pain or suffering, are not working. Moving their arms or legs in response to unpleasant feelings or sounds are only reflexes.

saying that you have to be in her body to KNOW that she will not feel pain is desperate...last resort answer..with obvious no way to fight...

Terri is considered BRAIN DEAD don

according to the article you quoted... she is NOT brain dead.

' A person who is “brain dead” is truly dead because all parts of the brain, even the part that regulates basic activities such as breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure, has died. A brain dead body needs a breathing machine to keep other organs working because of the loss of breathing. A brain dead body does not wake or move at all and most of its reflexes are gone. '

Re: Terry Schiavo's parents

(in response to oscarthegroom)..while you point out many important things..(i know i would not want to live this way either)..its not that no one cares about others living this way....its that a case like this helps to bring forth this issue that most of us probably really didn't know much about until now.

Look at how much eye opening discussion this case has sparked...the one good thing to come of this whole mess was that it got people to talk...i know i talked to my fiance about it and told him my wishes..

Here is where i end my discussion on this topic.

To the people who feel that i am too persistent in how i feel....well that is me. I feel very strongly on this matter. SO you have seen me talk about it full force.

Although i do not understand your opinions i will respect it...The opinions that apply to Terri that is...

In the end the decision has been made..it is over.
whether we agree with it or not.

Red,
I don't understand why you are so hell-bent on trying to express what you are expressing...

I would like to think that most people on this site have a limited understanding (intellectually, emotionally, etc.) of something like this because we haven't had to go through it.

Let it be...You seem to be getting yourself all worked up...Who cares what we think or feel in our hearts for whatever reason ---and simply wish to express?

Kelly~

why would anyone want to express how he or she feels.?

AND i agree..most peopel DO have limited knowledge...of which i have some MORE....which is why i am talking about it more...

AND if you read my last post...i have already said that i am ending the discussion as it is really MUTE at this point.

ALl of us feel passionately about something... and this is one of mine. So if anyone doesn't like how i express that...then they don't have to read my thread

ETA...yo get all in a huff about grammatical errors...we all have things we feel are worth talking about to no end i guess

I think it is just that those of us who have gone through this for family members (and in Red's case, at her job), feel strongly that if others saw what it is truly like, perhaps their opinions would be different. Not knowing is not understanding. And to some extent I got upset by this because some of the comments were just hypocritical. Unless you are a Christian Scientist IMO you have no right to say that you only feel that what God wants is the only way. Anyone who has taken medicine, birth control, gone to a doctor, has messed with what might be God's plan for us.

I am going through it as we speak. I understand. You are justified. G-d Bless Terri and Her family - BOTH sides!!! No one is a winner here.
