Terry Schiavo's parents

Original post by RedHead

Stopped the pursuit to have Terri's feeding tube put back in!

Finally this woman will be at peace...sad but yet comforting

and for those who say that they are glad he has moved on

there's a little part of the wedding vow

till DEATH due us part

he is a disgrace

Bless you Don! I was thinking the same thing.

i guess...but to expect this man to stop his life and not be able to enjoy it to the fullest..because of Terri's parents wishes is silly

I guess in sickness and health means nothing too. Oh no wait it does to Mr. Schiavo he did dedicate some years in taking of her....what a saint, they should name a street after him.

Maybe the vows should be changed to 'In sickness and in health and when brain dead stop taking care of them and move on with your life'...Marriage is a LIFETIME committment, it's not a committment until the person gets brain damaged.

and my point is

her vitals are still working

vitals are controlled by the brain

she's alive

Don, you're doing the exact same thing by claiming Michael Schiavo doesn't have a say in his wife's condition. Legally, he is next of kin by the bonds of matrimony. The decision falls on his shoulders. Furthermore, her parents appointed him guardian!

According to the bible, when a man marries he 'leaves his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh'. That union leaves no room for the parents to make decisions.

When you reference the sanctity of marriage with 'till death do us part', you must also recognize that he is well within his rights to make this decisions as her husband.

I agree. I think it would be very selfish of me to not want my husband to find love and have children with someone else if I was put in Terri's position today. I love him enough to want him to find joy and happiness with someone who could reciprocate.

as i said,

no one has the right to determine when her time is

not the husband
not the parents
not the gov't

only God has the distinction to call her and to tamper with His will is wrong IMO

ESPECIALLY when the vitals (i.e. lungs, heart etc.) are still working without assistance

By that token, medical attention should never have been administered in the first place.

But Don..then under this line of thinking..when she passed out should the feeding tube NEVER have been placed in?

Shold we never use any extrodinary means to keep someone or save someone...SINCE that is MAN deciding that it isn't time for the person to die?

here's the thing, i don't believe a feeding tube has anything to do with life support. It's food and water. Her condition is so bad that eventually, the brain activity that controls the vitals will stop and she'll die. Feeding tube or not.

A feeding tube is not medical attention IMO

if she was still breathing when she passed out, then yes, the feeding tube should have been given

if the heart and lungs stopped, then no

her heart stopped i believe...that is why oxygen stopped getting to the brain causing her brain condition!
