Don't panic ladies! The article does state they are doing what they can to fulfill all events booked. I'll pray for everyone that it works out!

I called TC. Here's the latest. They filed for chapter 11 which is bankruptcy NOT chapter 7 which is when they close their doors. So far they guarantee that they will honor all contracts. Derrick told me they filed in a move to protect the business from banks trying to foreclose. He was very nice and told me to call as often as I like which I certainly will. Please keep posting if any of you ladies hears anything new!!

I just got married at TC in October and was devastated when I saw this. I called my mom and she said that since it's chapter 11 it should be ok, and that a lot of businesses come back from it. I'm keeping all you ladies getting married at our wonderful venue this year in my thoughts!

I would have an easier time swallowing this if my wedding was closer. Being that it is still 9 months out, I fear the worst. Many bounce back, many don't. I fear a change of chefs, of staff,of food quality, or doors closing...I want to be positive but giving a venue more of my money (which is a concern to begin with) is terrifying to me. I am going to set up an appointment to go in and see if maybe my contract can be changed.

It it were me and I was 9 months out, I would look into booking other venues just to be safe. At 9 months out, I only paid about 3 or 4k into the venue and would rather lose that than lose more when it gets closer. I'm sure it's going to be fine, but it doesn't hurt to try to get as much of your $$ back as possible.

I know you are right but it is so hard to take in. This was my dream venue and had everything we were looking for. I agree with you though...I am still within my contract to get my money back. Did not expect this today, dress twin!!!

This is Lance, I am new to LI Weddings but my fiancé Richard and I are getting married on September 6th and our reception is at Thatched Cottage. I too was concerned I called and spoke to the owner and I am confident that all will go as planned. Seems like this is a strategic business move and has little to do with daily operations and quality. As a matter of fact the bankruptcy court is sending me a letter securing my money and date.
They have been there a very long time and I feel a great sense of comfort and trust. We are not going to lose sleep. Call and speak to the owner, you will feel better.

How did you get a letter from the court securing your money and date? I would like to do the same.
