Re: The inside of the Invitation?
I would say it should say something like this:
Emma Margaret Johnson and Jack Warren Smith request the honour of your presence at their marriage on Saturday, the sixth of June two thousand and nine at five o'clock in the evening St. Michael's Church Orland Park, Illinois
or
Emma Margaret Johnson and Jack Warren Smith request the pleasure of your company in celebrating their union of marriage on Saturday, the sixth of June two thousand and nine at five o'clock in the evening St. Michael's Church Orland Park, Illinois
or
Emma Margaret Johnson and Jack Warren Smith invite you to join them in celebrating their marriage on Saturday, the sixth of June two thousand and nine at five o'clock in the evening St. Michael's Church Orland Park, Illinois
Hope this helps

Re: The inside of the Invitation?
How about this
Emma Margaret Johnson and Jack Warren Smith along with their parents request the honour of your presence at their marriage on Saturday, the sixth of June two thousand and nine at five o'clock in the evening St. Michael's Church Orland Park, Illinois

Re: The inside of the Invitation?
To be honest if they arent contributing then there really isnt a proper way to add them in. At least i havent seen one as of yet
Edit**** If you make church programs you can include a page thanking them

Are you sure b/c I think i've seen it before. I think that my parents and his parents should be on the invite.

Re: The inside of the Invitation?
neither of our parents are contributing but we wrote:
Together with their parents yada yada and yada yada request the honor of your presence etc....
if you want to do it formally you can write out their full names.

Re: The inside of the Invitation?
i know it's technically supposed to be whoever pays is the one who's supposed to be listed first, but i always wondered y it matters? even though my parents didn't pay for it, we put that are requesting the honor..., and then for mu husband;s side, we put that his parents were requesting the honor... ( i know it's weird but we had two separate invitations, apparently it's something indian :) )
eta: i like emcheung's idea

Re: The inside of the Invitation?
You can do whatever you want.
We paid for the bulk, with some help from DH's parents, but my dad didn't contribute anything. I didn't ask, he didn't offer. No big deal to me. No one has to know. We wanted to honor our parents regardless of financial contribution. Being that Mike and I are older, we also wanted a bit more modern wording than the traditional.
our wording was
Susanne R. and Michael M. together with their parents Hubert R. and Elaine and John K. invite you to share and celebrate at their wedding yada yada yada.

Re: The inside of the Invitation?
we are paying, but we're doing
bride to be and groom to be together with their families request the honour of your presence etc. blah blah blah
i don't believe in etiquette or right or wrong in this case our parents and family have contributed in so many ways and we want to recognize them
