The January 16, I hate LIRR thread!

I would just like to say that LIRR is ridiclious!!
It took me 2 HOURS to get to work today...it usually takes me 1 HOUR!!!

I am sure others had problems as that is all I was hearing from people today!!

Thank goodness its friday!!

Well, the two trains I could take home last night were cancelled and combined with two other trains.

This morning wasn't too bad, with the 30 minute delays I was able to catch the 7.30 train at 8.00. That worked out since my 8.00 train was cancelled which would have meant taking the 8.14 that wouldn't have arrived until 8.45. Of course that would have meant I would go home

Juliet, mine are the same way!!!

And usually they leave the doors open for 30 seconds - 1 minute! Now with the horrible weather the doors at Jamaica were left open for literally 8 minutes! Close the doors, we are freezing!

I love the lame excuse that the train is not warmed up. We don't even have heat when we get into Penn.

Add me to the list, the train from Ronkonkoma was late, 4 cars short and NO D@MN HEAT..all for the low low monthly price of $250...what a bargain..

I was 45 minutes late. They had no heat or lights in 2 cars. The doors froze at every stop so it took about 5 minutes per stop. It was an express train that does not stop at Jamaica but of course they had to stop at Jamaica to check the train for mechanical difficulties. They took the train out of service as hundreds of others and me ran up the stairs to another track to try to fit on another train going to Penn Station.
I hate the LIRR!!!

Yup, Ronkokoma was late and I stood in Brentwood WAITING. I thought for sure I would have frost bite or something.

dawnie, you might have been on my train then! Alot of people who got on my train were complaining that their train was taken out of service and they had to get on another....either it was the same or it is a common occurance today!

Were you on track 2 or 3. Our train was the Long Beach train.

I got lucky I guess. My trian from Bayside was only 5 mins late this morning, but it was a few cars short And last night the 659pm train was delayed for about 15 mins and then it became local The same thing happened to FH at 930 pm when he was trying to come home from work

I think it might have been track 2...my train was the Babylon train but apparently other trains merged!

Me too. I commute from Babylon and waited a good 15 minutes for a New York train due to some confusion with a Brooklyn train. Then once all is striaghtened out, we are sitting in an ice box! There was no heat on this train at all and by the time we got to Penn Station, my feet were numb. I did not get into my office until 10:15. I got on this train at 7:45ish. Grrr!

I'm not sure if it's LIRR or just the cold that's been pi$$ing me off lately. Normally I wouldn't mind if there are delays, it happens, but yesterday I froze for 45 mins waiting for a train in the morning, last night forget it! they cancelled a train and pushed everyone on my train (which was late already) and then the train was 2 cars short!!! Where is the logic???

This morning, I happened to catch a 'late' earlier train, so I got in about 5 mins late, not too bad.

I think it's this cold annoying weather that's just making it worse Why can't the Spring just come already...

I use to take the LIRR from Bayside and rarely had problems and never had a major problems. Ever since we moved to LI and I take the train from Garden City it is a common occurence. My train going home has been delayed (by 30 minutes or more) the last two nights and Wednesday it wasn't even snowing yet. And the past two mornings getting in has been delayed as well. It is all extremely frustrating especially since I pay more to travel then before.

In the morning from Bayside I RARELY have problems. However, unfortunately I have problems almost everyday on the way home I take the 659pm home.

Can I ask a question- I don't know because I never had to commute by train, but what do your bosses say when you are late and it is due to the trains and they know that it is due to the trains? Do they care? Do you have to make up the time?

It seems to me, I constantly hear people complaining about LIRR and LIRR doesn't listen. But I bet they would listen to big industry getting mad!! Or have your bosses just given up too?
