Patrick and I had dinner with my sister and her fiance at PG's Steak House tonight. For an appetizer I ordered the special, which was shrimp cocktail (about 8 good sized shrimp) with fresh mozzarella, tomato and onion. It was very good.
When the bill came it was a bit higher than what we anticipated. We knew it would be a pricey meal, but this was more than what we expected, so we checked to see if maybe an error was made. It turned out that my appetizer was $60!!!
I'm all for paying the price for a great meal, but that was crazy! Who knew a few shrimp with cheese, tomato, and onion could cost so much!?!

Okay, it turns out that that appetizer was meant to be served family style and shared (which I did anyway), and that if I had not been happy I would have been credited last night. I guess I should have spoken up sooner.

Anna, it took every ounce of guts I had to make this call... I doubt I'd get the balls to call again!
At this point, what's done is done. I just learned an expensive lesson.

FAMILY STYLE!! AH-HA!! When I told DH about this, the first thing he asked was 'are you sure it was meant for just one person? They usually don't serve 8 shrimp as an appetizer'

I hear ya, but the management doesn't sound that good. Granted, it would have probably been best to say something last night, but even still, calling today should have still got them moving for a future free meal or something. Their answer is so half-a$$ed!
Lesson learned, but I wouldn't want to give them anymore business!

OMG!! I know it was hard to call, but I would see if you can get just a little more energy up to call again!! I would tell them that a gift certificate would be fine. If it was that expensive there should have been no reason why they shouldh't have given you the price!! No one pays that much for that even it was family style!!! Try to call again. They most likely added up there receipts by now that is why he had said if you would had told them that night. Let him know a Gift Certificate would be fine!!

That is ridiculous I have seen SEAFOOD raw samplers - with shrimp, crab legs, oysters, clams etc for a table for $60-80 at TOP restuarants BUT 8 SHRIMP is ridiculous - family style OR NOT! Hey riverbay isn't cheap (not quite as expensive either) and they charge NO WHERE NEAR that for a bowl of peel and eat shrimp for a table!
