THE NERVE!!!!!!!! LONG VENT

So yesterday I posted that M*I*A* canceled my trial that's in less than 3 weeks, the day of my E-Party (which she was well aware of). She was supposed to do hair, mu, extensions, the works. She was supposed to come to my house at 3pm, after she did a wedding party closeby. She emails me yesterday that she is canceling due to a 'family emergency' and needs to leave town on Jan 23rd, but she can send me a 'team member'.

Sorry, but I booked her based on recommendations from my friends and friends of friends who have used her. Secondly, what is the point of having a trial with a 'team member' when I ultimately want M*I*A* for my wedding. Thirdly, how do you know about a family emergency 3 weeks before it happens? And fourthly, is she is canceling on me then she must be canceling on the wedding she's doing that same day! So why would I book her for anything now!!??

I emailed her back asking if I would get a discount on this team member and whether or not I can get my $75 deposit back. She emails me today saying that the team member will be a $100 instead of $150. Fine. Then says that if I want M*I*A* to do a second trial herself and book her for my wedding, that I need to send another $75 asap. THE NERVE! I am fuming! No mention of my deposit being refunded. I am sick to my stomach. Very unprofessional. No phone calls. I would never recommend her. This is unacceptable.

My first deposit was for the trial on Jan 23rd (which she is canceling)

She wants another $75 to book another trial with her

Wow. That's terrible service.

I've heard wonderful things about her, and terrible things. A lot from both ends of the spectrum, which would keep me from ever considering her if I needed a make-up artist...luckily, I'm using a friend of a friend.

wow, that's terrible ... so sorry you have to deal with that.

i would reply and just ask for your deposit back. you paid for her time and she is not able to give you that time ... so you should be able to get your money back.

No I mean what was the $75 deposit that you wanted to have refunded? I did not pay a deposit to have a trial with her... but I did pay $75 deposit to book her for my wedding.

I am disgusted. Now I am scrambling around to find someone for hair & mu for my eparty, which I have spent so much time and effort planning. No one is available at this point with such short notice. I am so disappointed, pissed off, and mad!!

Wow! That's VERY interesting... When was your trial? Did you go to her or did she come to you?

My hair girl might be available, she's great and does extensions and everything. Let me know if you want her contact info. She works with people who do make-up I *THINK* but not sure... I could ask, let me know.

ETA: I don't understand why she would demand an extra deposit for the new trial date with her! That's ridiculous... the deposit would be so she doesn't lose money by her not booking something else on that date... but meanwhile she can cancel on you like this. To make it up to you she absolutely should NOT have done this, she should have offered a free trial for inconveniencing you.

I am sorry you are going through this. I didn't have a great experience trying to communicate with her either which is why I cancelled my trial and booked elsewhere. Her work is amazing but she made me a little nervous.

She lives in Brooklyn but works in two salons, one in Brooklyn and one in Long Island so maybe she would travel? I can ask... did you want her to come to you?

I went to her. It was back in August. I have never had any issues with her.

I decided to go elsewhere because it's been so difficult getting in touch with her and while I LOVE EMAIL and prefer it to the phone at least one conversation would be nice...

Oh no! I used her and so did one of my BM's for our e-pics..she was great and we've had no problems.
