So yesterday I posted that M*I*A* canceled my trial that's in less than 3 weeks, the day of my E-Party (which she was well aware of). She was supposed to do hair, mu, extensions, the works. She was supposed to come to my house at 3pm, after she did a wedding party closeby. She emails me yesterday that she is canceling due to a 'family emergency' and needs to leave town on Jan 23rd, but she can send me a 'team member'.
Sorry, but I booked her based on recommendations from my friends and friends of friends who have used her. Secondly, what is the point of having a trial with a 'team member' when I ultimately want M*I*A* for my wedding. Thirdly, how do you know about a family emergency 3 weeks before it happens? And fourthly, is she is canceling on me then she must be canceling on the wedding she's doing that same day! So why would I book her for anything now!!??
I emailed her back asking if I would get a discount on this team member and whether or not I can get my $75 deposit back. She emails me today saying that the team member will be a $100 instead of $150. Fine. Then says that if I want M*I*A* to do a second trial herself and book her for my wedding, that I need to send another $75 asap. THE NERVE! I am fuming! No mention of my deposit being refunded. I am sick to my stomach. Very unprofessional. No phone calls. I would never recommend her. This is unacceptable.

Wow! That's VERY interesting... When was your trial? Did you go to her or did she come to you?
I went to her. It was back in August. I have never had any issues with her.
Oh thats why. She told me i would have to pay a deposit if she was coming to my house.

Ugh I am so fed up with what I've heard about her! I also considered her and when I emailed about her having weekend trials, it took her a year and a day to get back to me with a 'No.' After all I've heard, I gave up at that point. I'm not taking off work for a TRIAL with someone who could cancel at the last minute.
Anyway, I think you should explore other options. I think the other girls on this thread have good ideas.

Niquay Fa did my hair and makeup for my e-pics. I don't know if she does extensions, though. She also did my makeup for my wedding and my sister's. Her work is amazing! The designer of my dress even hired her to do the models' makeup at his runway show after my wedding.
Gabriel from Gorgeous Bride NY did my hair (and my entire BP) for my wedding. I believe he does extensions.
Good luck! Better, though, that you should find out about poor customer service issues now than on the eve of your wedding.

if you dont mind spending money, my girl is amazing. she does airbrush, hair, extensions. she might be available too. trials are around same price as you mentioned...but day of is more than m-i-a

wow. yea i'd be pissed too! u should def get ur deposit back for the original hair trial!!! and just go to someone else for ur e-party hair....this is just ridiculous! so sorry u have to go thru this

I was her biggest fan when I first booked her, I even recommended her to other brides. But the closer the wedding date came the more nervous I got! I just had a bad feeling!

i have used ***** a couple of times for my friends wedding and even for my trial.. I never had any problems at all.. she was great and very professional .. i think she is just very inconsistent which can be very worriesome.. However I loved her makeup she did for my trial but decided to go elsewhere for my wedding .. I wanted someone new since I got my makeup done by her before.. So sorry this happened to you. :(

This is horrible. There is no way you should have to worry about this for your wedding. I emailed her back in April and didnt receive a response until August. That was the deal breaker for me.
