Ladies, let's help each other plan our HMs. Since we all are mainly going to the same islands (I'm going to Maui and Kauai, and I know lots are too- also Oahu is popular among us) let's post the activites/tours that we find interesting so we can help each other.

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!
hey betty -congrats!--fill us in on what yoou booked--what is your package like?
i was wondering the same thing about flights my questions are: what airline are you flying
what airport are you leaving from
what is the time of departure from NY
when is your arrival time in HI where are you flying into-what island
do you have transfers?--if so where and for how long-----
and if you haven't booked your air yet--take into account the length of time it takes to get there plus the time difference--i am thinking about a midnight flight so that i would get to HI in the morning and not waste a day----

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!
We are leaving on Sunday (8-31) at 12 pm from JFK. The earlier flight was booked and we could leave from LAG but JFK is 10 minutes from my house. If we left from LAG it would be 8:30 and it would be a pain. So we are leaving later. We have a stop over in LA and then get to Hawaii at about 6:30 pm. We are taking American. (into Maui)

QUESTION: What kind of car are you /did you get? We got a jeep on both islands but we are afraid if it rains. Can it be covered? Is there A/C in the Jeep? Did anyone get anything else?

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!
2003-I will have to see if we have any of our maps or ask DH if he remembers. We started at the Hyatt and drove all the way to the end of the road on our map but can't think of the name. You can park there and hike the rest of the way - but we weren't up for that. It didn't take too long either (maybe 3-4 hours with lots of stopping along the way for food and site seeing).
Then one day we drove the opposite way along some dirt road which was pretty crazy. Not much to see but we found this really pretty beach on the end and nice mountain views along the way. We had no clue where we were going we just kept going. We actually thought we were going to get killed or something because we drove into a pretty abandoned area and some pickup truck told us to keep going and follow them. We started to and then I turned to DH and said are they going to take us somewhere and kill us? But they led us to the pretty beach.
The rental car places give you maps which are great and we didn't need to much advance planning.

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!
lol niecey you are too funny w/the pickup truck story! could you imagine something like that happening on your HM? thanks for the info--i have the dummies book and there are maps in there (although they aren't very detailed) we will have to buy them or get them from the car rental place...... i definitely think we'll do the drive.....sounds like a peaceful-sightseeing type of trip!...

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!
I cannot believe that, how funny! I was skimming the post and almost missed you guys We are staying at the Westin in Maui, and the Sheraton in Kaui. Will probably do a day trip to Oahu for Pearl Harbor. Are you both getting married on 8/30? I have no idea how we are going to get up and make this flight, as we are spending the night in East Northport in Suffolk. We may just celebrate the whole night and sleep on the plane

Betty we are doing the day trip to oahu. Our travel agent booked it for us already.
We are going while we are in Kuai. It will cost you about $200 or each of you.
I would take care of that before you go.

Re: The OFFICIAL Hawaii Honeymooners thread!!!!
hmmm rental car was part of the package and I just got a compact car, didnt know jeep was an option, was it more?? That sounds ore fun for the road to Hana!!
As far as all the things you posted 2003 was this from when you got to the hotel, I assume they give you this stuff when you get there and you book then instead of beforehand.
BTW forget who asked but my flight is direct into kaui.
