I love that other people understand how I feel, they should rename liweddings the ibs support group, LOL. No but seriously it's uncomfortable and my friends don't understand because they don't have it.

that's exactly why I wanted to start this thread...i can't tell you how much it meant to me the first time that i read someone else on here had it. I have NEVER met anyone with this - and people say they understand - but you can't possibly 'get it' unless you have it...

Me too. I can go for 2 weeks without going. I've gone as far as getting colonics once a week. One natural remedy that does help a little bit is a supplement called triphala, you can get it at the health food store.

i have tried alot...
fiber, nautral fiber.. suppliments.. nothign works...

if i take any anti dirreah (sp) for one day of discomfort i will be in more pain for 2 weeks.

it worth being in the toliet allthe time then suffer later....

when i have a set schedule/routine i can go daily...

why my scheduel changes... my toliet schedule changes forever.... (forever= 3 weeks of chaos)

OMG my whole family has some form of IBS or Crohn's. They say it's extremely genetic for ashkenazi jews.

My poor sister has BOTH.

I honestly don't really know the difference between Crohns, colitis and IBS.

I grew up with her, when her mom found out she told me that she was SO mad at her. Living in queens, everyone I know has a tiny apartment and usually 1 bathroom so i'd rather drive home and be in the comfort of my own bathroom.

Question -

for those of you who don't ever stop going...

i starve myself a LOT in order to not have to go when i'm out... Do you find even if you haven't eaten - you still go?

When that happens - it makes me cry!!

I'm Jewish and it runs in my family too...

Was anyone originally misdiagnosed? In HS I was told I had a hiatyl hernia which is a type of acid-reflux. I was told to cut out anything acidic, put on Nexium ('the new purple pill!') and told i couldnt lay down an hour after eating. I should have known something was up when laying down after eating (or mid-meal) was the only thing that made my stomach feel better.

It wasn't until my appendix ruptured a year later and i went through zillions of tests that they diagnosed me with Crohns (and told me it was unlikely I ever had a hiatyl hernia). Apparently I can have all of the acidic stuff I want but it's dairy I need to watch out for. (I think I might be somewhat lactose intolerant)

All that time getting 'white pizzas' when it's the cheese that could be the problem, not the sauce!

go to the vitamin shop and buy MAG07-its magnesium pills that are oxygenated and work like a charm...seriously i have alot of problems with constipation, and nothing works or causes too much pain but these pills are a miracle and help so much...if i take them at night i go in the morning and trust me you will go, but you have no stomach pains

trust me its a lifesaver...like i said in the thread before ive had this problem since i was a young kid. ALl the other things i used to take caused so much pain or you wouldnt be able to leave your house bc you'd constantly go to the bathroom...these ill take around 10-11pm and when i wake up im good to go, and absolutely no stomach pains at all...the pills are also used as a cleansing so when you start it they say to take it twice a day for 21 days and it cleans out your body, now i just take it once a day but not everyday and thats only bc i have issues with going to the bathroom in public so i wont go at work lol, now i just take it on the weekends

I think Jewish people and Italians have the worst stomachs. I wonder if it's because we're high anxiety people - admit it, we are!

It's so good to know there are other people with retarded tummies.

When I'm constipated I'm so happy - my bum is also happy it gets a much needed break!

i dont know exactly what i have i just know i have issues lol...see for me its all i know, like i said i remember being 3-4 years old and my mom staying up with me late bc i couldn't go and id be in so much pain, so it was never like OMG whats going on with me, i need to go get checked out and where did this come from. For me it was just always i have problems with my stomach i lived with it my whole life and just the way i am lol. My dad has the same problem and hes gone to the docs for it, had tests, took pills and it never got anywhere so i never bothered bc i kinda saw it as whats the point, but maybe i should go.

my friend has IBS and is on medication, but for her it happened in her 20's and out of nowhere so of course she was like wait whats going on with me i need to go get checked up, i guess its different when you get it later on in life

Really? I guess a lot of things could be related - regardless of which one you have...

if you have it with constipation - you'd have all this stuff that's supposed to come out of you and isn't and i'm sure that causes issues...

if you have it with diahhrea - you are losing whatever you are putting into your body almost immediately...so you may not be getting all you need!
