**The OFFICIAL IBS THREAD**

Original post by davenjess

I know the first time I saw this topic talked about on here I was overwhelmed to know that I wasn't the only person on earth suffering with IBS.

I have heard from a few other girls on FM asking about this topic - so I thought i'd make an official thread about it.

Come here to talk about new meds you are on, foods you've had success with, etc.

I'm Jess - I have IBS-D & it S U C K S!!!!!!

I have IBS too and I'm Lactose intolerant. I live on Imodium. I went to the gastro and need to find a new one. He said that it's not severe enough to do a colonascopy (spelling). Does the fact that I chew imodium every day to survive not severe enough. He gave me a prescription a while back that was suppose to calm my intestinal track but it didn' t work, then he put me on something else and that didn't work. Some days I just want to die. I have a hard time digesting red meats so no steak or roast beef. I eat alot of chicken and turkey with rice. Helps me maintain my weight.

i have anxiety induced ibs..it started in jan of '02 after i had a bad car accident my doc said when i think im going ot be in a stressful or anxious environment take an imodium... it pretty much works.. although sometimes nothing can control it.. when it first starting happening i didnt leave the house.. (for about 6 months) i didint want to go anywhere.. and at home i was 'safe' then slowly i started to tell my friends.. and that made it a lot easier.. luckily i haven't had an episode in a while.. knock on wood!

Welcome to the Imodium Club. I keep it in my purse wherever I go. I have to take it before eating out these days.

I have developed an allergy to Immodium - i can't tell you how long I cried after discovering that. It was the only way I could eat like a normal person when I was out...

I have Crohns (IBD) and was diagnosed back in '03. If anyone wants, feel free to FM me. I've been through everything and back and am doing pretty well. I just don't want to get into too much graphic detail out here

I also have Crohns Disease. It is so horrible. I can't do to much because I'm am always scared of something happening while I'm out.

i've got it too, but IBS-C. It ***** a**, pun intended. my dr gave me some drug and i can't remember the name but after a while they don't really work so i stopped taking it. Also have a moderate lactose intolerance and get terrible pains from certain foods.

what helped me the most so far was running. I ran two 1/2 marathons this year and noticed a HUGE improvement with my stomach issues. BUT then of course i f---d up my knee from running and I'm back to where I was before!!

life kind of ***** sometimes.

Maybe because you are exercising and working your muscles...that's why running may help...

Interesting!!! Thank you for sharing!

i'm so sorry your knee is messed up now and you are back to square one - what about maybe regular exercise? Crunches, leg lifts - anything to get your body moving??

thanks... i'm going to a trainer now. i still work out but on the elliptical b/c it's not as hard on the knees. we have been doing leg presses to strengthen my knee, but it's not all having the same effect as running. I might have messed up my knee so if it keeps bugging me when ski season starts i'll get it x-rayed

but thanks so much for caring!

Re: **The OFFICIAL IBS THREAD**

OMG, I cant believe there is a thread for this! I have excema, and have had it forever! I HATE it . . . and recently, well for the last year or so, have had really bad stomach problems! Ive researched IBS and am sooo sure I have it, and possibly lactose intolerance! I still need to see a Dr. for all of these things. Well Ive been to a million for the excema. Eucerin helps with that.

Ive been eating those new yogurts: Activa!
I swear my stomach hasnt been in bad shape since! I dont know if they are working or not, but I feel like they are helping!

I tried the activa...didn't help... I bought something from GNC but haven't tried it yet. I also just got some vitamins - i've never really taken vitamins - so we'll see if that starts helping too... When I get home tonight - i'll post what the GNC stuff is...it's supposed to help digestion.
